I was watching another documentary about WWII last night and it reminded me somewhat of the current situation in Ukraine. So many people are opposed to any aid to Ukraine because of the corruption over there. I wonder if they realize that our gov't got in bed with the Mafia and counted on them for protection of the NY ports and intelligence before after invading Sicily in WWII? We don't know how much money traded hands but we do know that part of the cost was releasing Lucky Luciano, with the stipulation that he be deported and allowed to "retire" to Sicily. War is ugly and sometimes you have to get in bed with unsavory people to further your cause. The last thing we want is to be fighting the old Soviet Empire and deal with China at the same time with our imbecile in chief in the big office.
