This one may cause hard feelings but here's the deal. You and family are out anywhere and a mass murder event occurs you pull your edc and engage and since your a better shot than Dave you hit him and cause him to evade you but law enforcement fire drives him back towards you after you've pushed forward to better cover and reloaded you can see he's taken another hit or two and bleeding but he's still armed and law enforcement is moving quickly to surround him and your being ordered to stop your family is behind you at original cover spot but your still in danger. There are no wrong answers but I know what I'd do.

I’m kidding. If law enforcement says stop I’d probably stop unless he starts shooting at me. Since I have cover I should be good though. I don’t want to give the LEOs any reason to have any confusion for who the bad guy is for sure.

If they are surrounding and he is not aiming at me or my family I would hold and see how it plays out. Definitely don't want to be shot by law enforcement so probably just stay in cover and wait it out.

If LE says to holster my firearm and my family and I are safe I will comply otherwise Houston we have a problem

Why not just kill him and leave?

I wouldn’t be able to do that myself. For one, it would look really bad to just leave that situation after killing someone, no matter who they are. It would be a tough one to explain to LE after they found out who killed the guy.

I’m also probably not mentally prepared to take a life and just walk away. No matter who or what they have done. Even trained military and LEOs have issues after taking a life. I think it is very easy to say or have in your mind how you would react in a certain situation but real life is not always the same. I could and would definitely protect my loved ones, but I would probably struggle afterwards with it in some capacity.

I feel my first responsibility is to protect my family. Once I have shot him and he is evading me, if possible I move my family away to a safe area.

Kill him and leave would be like SSS. He was the threat and the system will just let him back on the streets.Society is better off.

Get your family and leave the area…..With law enforcement arriving and looking for an individual with a gun…don’t let make them mistake you for the perp. Adrenaline is running at its highest level. Even though law enforcement is trained, you are on the scene, with a gun……
Leave the scene and come forward later, explain your actions and be a witness.

I am just not walking around with a gun on my at all times. If I go shopping or take my wife out to eat, I am not carrying. And to be 100% honest, I don't have one country south alabama redneck friend who is always carrying. They may have a pistol in the truck but they are not walking around 24/7 with it. I don't even know a family member who is always carrying.
