I’d be for it. Would there be abuse? Yes. The extent of which would be in how they distribute and account for vouchers. If you had to show proof of purchase of a homeschool curriculum or some form of expenditure related to that voucher on your tax returns that might be one way to keep it accountable. Homeschool isn’t something I’m super familiar with when it comes to the logistics (though my wife and I have discussed this as an option to be considered later as our child approaches school age). Frankly, most degenerate parents don’t want their kids at home with them all day. Public schools are free daycare to them, and their child’s performance is not something they really care about until it comes time for them to have to pay up for summer school or unless their kid is getting kicked out of school (that rarely happens now).
Ultimately we could partially fund school vouchers just by eliminating the federal department of education and taking their 195 billion dollar budget and dividing it amongst every student. I’d rather the states have control over the public school than have the feds controlling education.
Well stated. Thanks.

In the past 50 years the number of administrators versus teachers has flipped. Heck it’s almost like there’s more administrators than teachers these days. Universities really have outdone themselves.

I am not for it. If they help pay for it, they will want a say in it.
Jeremy Thats normally the goal, you get government money they get a say in the curriculum and get to monitor how and when you do things. The financial cost of homeschooling is a little but it doesn't compare to the cost of letting the public school system train up your children.

as long as the kids are socialized with other kids , yes , be better I see the liberals plan is working. They want you to take your kids out of school IMO.
All the poor kids who have no choice... they will be indoctrinated. lol nah they loose money and power . less students in the class less funding . last thing they want is a choice

The government will ruin homeschooling. Keep them out I am not for it. If they help pay for it, they will want a say in it.

There are plenty of morons in the teaching profession but not everyone is a good teacher. So that's one thing. Your wife might not be very good at it. There are many people I have seen "home school" their kids that could possibly be the biggest pack of dumbasses I've ever come across. Like riding around during the school day with their kids in a minivan with drool all over the inside glass. I've seen'em. Others on here have seen them too.
That's what a lot of people picture in their heads when someone says " home schooling".
So that's the other major issue in my mind. Education is very important in my opinion. If you've got parents that haven't achieved in life and are not well educated teaching kids... that's going to create a Nation of stupid people. That's not good for our Country in general. And that is taking away from the kids on some level and very possibly denying them the American Dream. That American dream doesn't always rest solely on hard work. Education is a major part of it in my book. I grew up poor and education and hard work got me to where I am today. Education being the most important piece of that equation. I can honestly make the statement that everything I learned in school my parents could have never taught me from the dinning room table. There is no way.
That's just something to chew on. The "Teacher" should have to display that they are competent themselves. Cry foul and say your kids 3rd grade teacher is an Idiot all you want but she/he/it/they/shim... whatever most likely has a degree in teaching. If you could barely make an 18 on your ACT I'm not sure you should be teaching your kids how to read.
I mean.... that might be someone you know.
All that said... I've got immediate family that home schools their kids and they are both very well educated and their kids have done fine.... even though I was skeptical.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Nope, go to public school or pay for it yourself. I don’t like government handing out money, that isn’t their job.

Jeremy Agreed. My wife spoke at several republican groups, in opposition to the last one they wanted to pass. It was in the bill that you had to use preferred vendors if you got the money. Foot in the door, then what? CRT, BLM? Government involvement is not good. Many, including ourselves, chose the homeschool path for a reason.
