We are headed out the 18th for a week long trip to catch some crappie. Went last year and caught a pile of them but it''s a hot trip. Trolling crank baits down deep.

One of my truck driver's goes down a few times a year. They normally catch a ton, and cats as well. Good luck on your trip. It will be a hot one for sure.

Back in 1988 I was a park ranger there, lots of good times.

Grew up crappie fishing on that lake with my Grandpa. We ran yo-yo's at a place we called "Piney Point." It's all developed now and I think there's a COE boat launch and campground there now.

A Sardis Lake trip sounds fun. Have fun. I’d like to go fish Grenada Lake and Enid Lake one day.

I hope you catch as many crappie as the number of beers I drank in the mud flats out there my freshman year. You won't be coming home hungry. My BIL lives in Oxford and they wear them out on Sardis and Grenada

I haven't been on Sardis, but did a trip a few years ago to Enid and Grenada. I won't ever forget it, but I dang sure ain't going back, in August again. Sitting in a boat seat, riding around in circles, in 95+ degree temps is not fun enough for me to do that again. We caught 182 crappie in two half days and one full day of fishing.

My grandfather used to fish Sardis and Grenada (and occasionally Enid religiously. My dad has 2 of his crappie mounted in his shop and they are the biggest crappie I’ve ever seen. I’ll have to find a pic

I just got back from Enid. It was easy to tell where the fish were. Giant flotillas of livescopers in 3 different areas of the lake. Sad to see what has become of crappie fishing those lakes.

Yeah….I’m not typically one for making new laws and banning stuff, but I really wish livescope wasn’t a thing. It just feels kinda dirty. Like flying drones around looking for deer/turkeys in green fields (which I’m pretty sure is illegal in most places) or flying around in bush planes in Alaska looking for game and then landing on a nearby sandbar to put a stalk on (which I know for a fact is illegal)

Most people don’t use game cameras in that way though. They use them to see past events and establish a pattern. Even with the new cell cameras where you get pics and videos in real time, a majority of people aren’t setting them up and then running out to a spot the moment the camera goes off. I’m sure some do, but that’s not the norm.

I just don’t see the attraction of staring down at a screen the entire time I’m fishing. I’m not knocking others that use it because it’s legal, but I just don’t care for the idea or see the attraction to it

Average fish size is dropping fast over there and will continue to drop because of Livescope. They have been searching out the largest females since Livescope came on the scene. I am glad I got to fish over there before Livescope and see just how good it was. I don't think we will ever see it like that again.

As for gamecam comparison, I don't think anyone is carrying a realtime deer finder while hunting. Apples and oranges.

We had a great trip last year. We caught a lot more throwbacks than keepers for sure but the minimum keeper is 11" over there. 11" fish is a good one.

We had a good trip and man was it hot. Didn't catch the number we did last year but caught more keepers this time. Came close to limiting out one day and we caught a couple 14" fish. Last year we caught some 15" but not this time. We only fished till the trolling batteries died each day.
