Anyone caught involved with ANY TYPE OF theft should be executed within 24 hours of conviction. There should be an option available that allows the victim to shoot the perpetrator in the head. Fixed it for you.

Thanks to credit monitoring and a few good credit cards that caught it my scammer didn’t get anything. He got ballsy though and started emailing me.

A couple of months ago, had a lady call to pay her bill over the phone. Gave the number, expiration date, and the three digit code on the back. Went through, didn't think anything about it. About two hours later, a guy in the state of Utah called wanting to know why we had charged his credit card........ Lost about $500 on that one. If you have to take a card over the phone have them text or email you a picture of their ID. That isn't fool proof but it will stop 99% of theft charge backs.

I was wondering how to mitigate that since usually if you have the cvv code, you actually have the card in hand and not just the stolen acct number and expiration date, but I guess when folks steal the whole tangible card, then they have everything they need for paying online or over the phone and most of the time in person. I can count on one hand the number of times that I have been asked for an ID when paying with debit or credit cards.

How many get a receipt every time a CC is used ? I do every time and I keep them for a month to check them against my account and to remember where I used them It aggravates some cashiers but thats just too bad
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Never use a debit card for any transaction unless you have to. Use a credit card with fraud prevention measures. Gas pumps and any large chain store are always the worse for card number theft. Tourist towns are notoriously bad cause they know folks aint going to drive 8 hours back to complain in person by the time they find the fraud. If there is a fraud the Credit Card company can usually handle it and money never comes out of your bank account.
