i didn't know swallowtail raptors existed, and i'm a bird guy. beautiful, gracefull hawks with four-foot wingspans. they were wheeling over u.s. 331 in crenshaw county between highland home and luverne. kind of rare in alabama. they winter in south and central america, but breed in coastal plains of the gulf states in the summer. they like tall trees near swamps, which crenshaw county has in abundance.

We've always had them around over here, not in large numbers but enough that we see them regularly. Awesome bird.

I’ve seen a handful in north AL but it’s rare. Saw them when I lived in south MS often.

Been seeing 4-5 pretty often around my house. Wife and I watched them for several minutes this past Sunday afternoon.

Saw one up here a couple years ago near Mud Creek. Beautiful bird and very rare this far North.

They are moving into our area.

I saw 8 of them eating insects when I was bush hogging
last fall.

Pretty cool after watching them in South Texas for years.

Kinda like white wing doves. Got about 500 white
wings in my dove field now eating sunflowers

Mom and my wife love watching the songbirds at the feeders.

I love watching the raptors who feed on the songbirds and smaller critters

I see them while bush hogging. It’s neat to watch them dive bomb on a grasshopper

I understand they love a fresh cut hay field, that's where I saw the one I saw .

See them a lot down here in FL.
I’ve seen as many as 7 at one time during mating season.

They are all over the place here in NW Florida. I saw around 20 circling above the Grocery Advantage in Cantonment a few years back.

Had 5 of them chasing bugs while I was bushogging last weekend in hurtsboro. Never seen that many at once.
