I have a small property, about 13-14 acres that needs to be replanted. I’ve only spoken to one guy about site prep (helicopter spraying) and replanting. Price I was given is $3,200 for the complete job. Does this seem to be about average these days? TIA

Chemical site prep, trees and labor on standard loblolly seedlings, yes. You’re running out of the spraying window. You’d better hurry or you’ll be doing it next year.

Talk to your local NRCS folks. You might be able to enroll in an EQIP Plan. I've done it twice. To MBrock's point, that would be a 2024 deal. See below for contact info, assuming your property is in Mobile Co.

No guarantees your application will be one of the chosen if you apply with the NRCS; I was told only half the applicants for long leaf was approved this year. I’ve reapplied hoping to make the cut next year! Maybe the government will I’ll quit sending so much money to Ukraine and out politicians pockets that all applicants will be accepted in 2024!!

In north al an middle tn the cost to Spray an plant is $150-$200 an acre . There is a gov cost share program but im you have sign up in advance . Spray season is bout over up here . U can still plant in feb an spray next year but any regenerative pines that have come up won’t be killed . Most big companys here let land grow for one year then spray kill everything ,pines, hardwoods whatever then plant in spring . They don’t want any competition. This all loblolly. They order from Weyerhaeuser seedling plant in ms.

This, they can get you signed up and going in the right direction. Then send Sanderson a PM about getting everything done once you are approved.

Only in certain counties where they can't spend money any other way but most counties do not. There is no state initiative for loblolly, but there might be in the future with all the IRA money we are supposed to get in FY 24 and 25.

That's a pretty standard rate for site prep and planting. Like some said, you can go talk to the NRCS folks and they can help you apply for some cost share. If you haven't sprayed yet this year, the window is pretty much closed.
