Stay on top in some oaks. Ridge lines. Walk in on a ridge and find the sign and climb or sit. If I was meat hunting I wouldn’t get very far from the truck. Yep, no need to drag a doe up some of those hollers.

How is the acorn crop around the forest? Here at the cabin, a very few Spanish red oaks are hitting the roof. The squirrels are eating pine cone seed. Not a great crop this year. Not terrible but not one of the better ones.

You're wasting your time deer hunting for meat in bankhead. I saw deer in Bankhead almost every hunt I went on. I did sling an arrow through a doe one day a long way from the truck, for meat, and regretted it every step back lol.
