Its my first time hunting Bankhead. Can someone help point me in the right direction not looking to kill monsters just looking to put meat in the freezer thanks for any help.

Stay on top in some oaks. Ridge lines. Walk in on a ridge and find the sign and climb or sit. If I was meat hunting I wouldn’t get very far from the truck.

Also a lot of people concentrate on the big sections of Bankhead right around Sipsey Wlderness. There’s some really good pockets of forest all over Winston county. I suggest getting a whole forest map and look at some of those smaller areas

How is the acorn crop around the forest? Here at the cabin, a very few Spanish red oaks are hitting the roof. The squirrels are eating pine cone seed.

Not a great crop this year. Not terrible but not one of the better ones.

I saw deer in Bankhead almost every hunt I went on. I did sling an arrow through a doe one day a long way from the truck, for meat, and regretted it every step back lol.
