![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/DZZthbFh/IMG-5091.jpg) i bought my grandparents property after i graduated from college. it’s only 8 acres but it’s where my dad was born and raised. we have always had a greenfield on it but rarely get a buck of much size. this is the same property that i’ve had so much stolen from and is sandwiched between a crack house and several trailers of democrats that are responsible for at least the thefts of my game cameras of which Dano bought and got back to me. anyway, i leave as little as possible on this property and hate to do too much in way of making it better bc it will usually end up not working out bc of the neighbors. i put out a feeder and chained it to a set of discs i leave down there in early september. around the first of october i put out a camera cable locked to the same set of discs and the first picture it sent me is a group of 3 rack bucks and 2 of them are shooters. i wait until the wind would be out of the south and go sneak a ground blind in the week before bow season opened knowing we would have north winds that whole weekend and part of the following week. the deer stayed on the same pattern and were out in shooting light every afternoon. we made plans to go hunt wednesday afternoon as it was the first afternoon with the right wind. i pick him up from school right after he got out and we headed straight there to beat the does that show up between 4-5pm. we get in clean and get settled. 45 min later the does and yearlings show up. they slowly make their way to us and when they got in range, wyatt turned his head and whispered can i just shoot a doe so we can get outta here?? NEGATIVE!!! we have an opportunity to kill 2 mature bucks, we aren’t shooting a doe…. he kinda sulked a little and went back to eating peanuts and playing with pine straw in the blind. 20 min later the doe throws her head up and starts looking back in the far end of the field and i can see 2 deer coming. a spike and a young 6 point come in and over the next 5 minutes feed their way towards us. they’re abt in range and he whispers, can i take the safety off now?? negative. that’s not the buck. you sure??? hahaha yes buddy, i’m sure. 5-10 min later all of the deer look back and i tell him to get ready, and out walks a narrow 3 year old 8 point which is one of the trio. he’s abt halfway to us and he just turns his head but doesn’t say anything, just looks at me. that’s not him either but i bet u one of the big ones step out in the next 2 min. on que, i can see leg’s coming out from under a low hanging limb and it’s one of the shooters. i lean up and whisper, that’s the one we are gunna shoot. coming towards us he keeps angling to our left of which isn’t optimal bc of the narrow vertical window of the blind. he gets to 20 yards and slowly turns to our left and i can see over the top of wyatt that the arrow is pointed right at the edge of the window and whisper don’t shoot, i need to move u to my right leg. i swap him from my left leg to right leg and push him towards my knee. i hold onto his jacket and move the tripod to the right abt a foot or so and all of this with 5 deer within 30 yards of us. the reality of the situation set in, my heart rate went up, and the shakes started. with him now on my right leg, i couldnt see anything that he was aiming towards. i have a tactacam camera that links to my phone so i can record the hunts and see where he’s aiming. well it was too dark and of zero use. so there sits my little buddy…..first time shooting a deer where i couldn’t see the deer nor see where he’s aiming. i asked was he broadside…. yes. aim behind the shoulder and slowly squeeze ….. i can’t, there’s a bush in the way. well wait until he clears it and slowly squeeze like u have been doing when we practice. 10-15 seconds go by and he’s just looking through the scope and i’m abt to die and he says okay, he’s past the bush. slowly squeezeeeeeee. the xbow went off and there was one hell of a whack. i lean up to see what’s going on and the deer is plowing running out of the field to the left while the rest of them ran down the field. it sounded like a freight train going through the woods headed up hill and after 5-6 seconds it ended. he turned and looked at me and his eyes took up 80% of his face. he looked like a cartoon drawing. he said is he dead?? i believe so but we are gunna sit tight, say a little prayer and gather all of our stuff while the rest of the deer ease off. 5 min later i regain the use of my legs and carry everything to the truck and get my light. we get back to the field and the bolt is standing on end in the field. looks like u dipped it in red paint. he shines his light to the edge of the field and it’s like something off a broadhead commercial. stevie wonder could have followed this one. he followed the blood all of the way to him. nothing in this world can compare to unintentionally having to sit back and watch you kid do what you have taught them to do and perform like he did. lord willing and the creek don’t rise, i’ll get to drag out a couple more. wyatt bryant, the one and only!!!

I been checking all day waiting on this! Congrats to y’all getting it done. It’s exponentially harder to get a kid on one and to do it within bow range is a huge feat.
Proud of him and proud of you continuing a legacy…
Can’t wait for the next adventure!
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

aw hail yes!!! Congrats to both of you. Longest, slowest minutes in the world are those spent waiting on a youngun to shoot.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
