I clean & quarter mine .. keep the backstraps and tenderloins and put those up myself.... I still paid over $500.00 in processing fees last year. But.... I don't have a cooler to hang them in nor the equipment for processing. I also work a lot of long hours during the week, so I am paying for the convenience. I guess I could always just sit and watch the deer ... NOT!!!!

I hate to be labeled lazy because I use a processor. I don't have the space for a personal butcher shop. I don't have a legal or sanitary means of disposing of the waste. I don't have the time with two jobs and two grands living with me. I certainly don't have any interest in all the details of processing correctly. I would much rather be playing with the kids than out back in a meat shop. My processor does a great job. He would increase his prices if he knew what I am willing to pay. I am not lazy. Quit worrying about what a bunch of people on the internet think about you. Haha. That opening sentence was purely a dramatic hook. I don't worry and I don't think it was the intention of the original comment to call a bunch of strangers lazy.

Same. I still cut my own grass, change the oil, do plumbing repairs, & all manner of other manly type jobs though. So there.
