I need to move a refrigerator about 2 hours away. I have looked online, some say its ok just don't lay flat others say don't. The trailer sides are low and the ramps are small and wouldn't trust driving down the roads anything could happen. If I have it laid down but at the highest angle possible would it be ok?

I think it has to do with the way the compressor inside the fridge is "hung" in the fridge. I have moved them short distances laid down, but everyone says not to.

When you lay one on it's back the oil in the compressor runs up and causes issues. Or at least that's what I've been told as the reason not to lay one on it's back. Riding at an angle would be fine I would think.

IYou can lay them on their side and transport them. Just when you stand it back up let the refrigerator sit unplugged for 8hrs or so. That way the oil for the compressor will drain back into the compressor.

That’s what I have heard - I’ve never put it to the test yet.

I wouldn't lay it all the way down. If you transport it standing up, be aware that air will be pushing on the portion above the truck cab in a big way.

This is what Dad always told me, He built them at GE for 30+ years

Good answer. I have laid some down and let them sit and they were fine. Some, within a couples hours. Usually try to wait till overnight. Just depends on how long they were laid down for.

I can tell you for certain that no matter how heavy it is, a refrigerator will blow out of your truck bed going down the road if not strapped in tightly .

I can tell ya a door will fly open and warp the hell out it and must be left on the curb. Tie down tight and rope duct take the doors. Let it up right 12-24 hours if ya lay it down.
