Yes, both shoulders, basically the same as what you describe. The surgery and recovery period is long with extensive rehab. I have not had the surgery done on either but rather chose to manage how I do things and there are stretching exercises that also help. I have also gone the route of getting pain shots which did help. You can you tube the exercises easy but go slow at first. I also have bone spurs and arthritis and a bulging disk in my neck and spurs all the way down my spine. So I have to pick and choose which surgery I want to start with and for me excercise and stretching seems to work best. The biggest problem is just not having the strength in my shoulders that I did 10 years ago which is frustrating when you need to do some lifting.

Pretty sure I have a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder. I have all the symptoms and when I do the home “test” to see if it hurts when I do this or that, it does. I’ve read it won’t get better without being repaired but I’m not real keen on going under the knife for a shoulder. I know many people that have had it done and it just doesn’t sound like something I’m ready to do.

I hate to have surgery also but it’s got to where I’ve only got probably 50% use & strength on that side, I can manage it but it’s becoming pretty aggravating also can’t sleep on that side & it keeps me awake some at night

Had it when I was 20 years old. Surgery in June on non-throwing shoulder….playing baseball in college. It was January before I felt comfortable swinging a bat normally

Had the torn rotator cuff surgery last October. Except mine was still attached on the backside and was too retracted to repair the frontside. Had a lot of arthritis removed from around my collar bone and the collar bone shaved down. As a result of not having the full blown rotator cuff surgery, I was only in a sling for 2 weeks and no PT. Those that have had the full blown surgery (3 people I know) All said never again, and would do the total shoulder replacement as the recoup time is much better...

I had a torn Labrum in my Left shoulder and had the surgery to fix it. Absolutely glad I did it but damn sure don't want to do it again! It sucked. As Skinny says do the stretches so the muscles don't get to tight from non use. The Rehab after surgery was absolute Hell but absolutely necessary. I still can't throw a baseball or football like I used to but at least I dont hurt all the time. I could not raise my arm above my head and had no strength in my shoulder so I couldn't carry anything around in that arm for about 6 months after surgery

Had partially torn rotator cuff, torn anterior labrum, partially torn bicep, and partially detached bicep. Dr Lyle Cain at Andrews in Bham. He did a good job. Rehab sucked. Kept doing the PT exercises after I had done 10 weeks with physical therapist up until I started lifting again. I’m 10 months out of surgery and only notice it now if I lift heavy.
Overall I’m glad I had it done but it sucked

Back in my bowhunting days I was having trouble pulling my bow back. It was set at 80 lbs so I backed it off to 70 and still had trouble. I also had a lot of pain lifting my arm higher than my shoulder. I was convinced something was torn. I had an MRI where they stick a huge needle in the joint and fill it up with stuff. If it leaks out on the MRI, then something, probably the Rotator Cuff, is torn, if it doesn't leak then it is likely an impingement, which it was in my case. Apparently, they are the most common shoulder issue. The Othro Doc went in and shaved the clavicle down. Said to start using it immediately as much as I could stand. I did the rehab and all. This was in the Spring and by August I was back to shooting my bow. I figured that it was from years of baseball and then softball. It got to where I moved from the outfield to 2nd or 1st in softball because I couldn't throw overhand anymore but I was hell on turning a double play with the sidearm release. The Dr. said more than likely it was just a genetic thing. He was right as a few years later my left did the same thing. On the right he opened my shoulder wide open. The left was arthroscopic which was a much easier and quicker recovery.
Like Big Ed says, the first bit of rehab is the toughest or maybe you just get used to the pain.
They said the rehab is easier and recovery is much quicker for an Impingement than it is if something is torn. Hope it turns out OK for you.

I am in the process of rehabbing a torn rotator cuff and bicep connection relocation. THe surgery was not bad and I am not in any pain. The rehab process is a long road but I am making process. If you do what they tell you at home it really helps rehab go better.

Had labrum surgery and bicep relocation. Took 4 months to get back to somewhat normal activities. But it was well worth it because I don’t have pain anymore and I don’t have to sit around and worry about what I can and can’t do with my shoulder. I’d rather be pain free and have the surgery than sit around trying to figure out how I can do something without causing my shoulder to hurt.

Yep Posterior Labrum tear and frayed rotator cuff cleaned up. Surgery is the only fix because it will get worse. I put it off 1.5yrs till it affected my sleep. Go ahead and get it done. Follow the PT and you will be fine. The PT is rough but gets better with time. It will never be the same but Im pretty unlimited and do whatever I wish. Had mine done in 2010 and scar tissues still flair up. Also I would say the younger you are the better you will recover.

Same, here, SLAP Bankart procedure done in early Sept (as Ivan was rolling through with sustained 60mph winds) and shot first Mallard on Dec 20th. Labrum tear and Bankart lesion along with 6 reattachment points to rotator cuff. Superior Labrum tear Anterior to Posterior and a Bankart lesion (inferior glenohumeral ligament below the ball joint) repair involving the bicep tendon. The Labrum and Bankart are what kept me immobile in a sling for longer than just a rotator cuff repair, before starting rehab. My left needs attention, but I don't think a Labrum repair is involved in this side, so hopefully the recovery will be quicker. Friends that have had just rotator cuff say that they started rehabbing it within a week, instead of weeks.
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Delt. with a torn labrum in my right shoulder. Not sure in your age, but a labrum tear can heal without surgery. I fought with mine for close to two years, but between a handful or cortisone injections, I physical therapy and being careful with that shoulder for a bit, mine eventually healed and I am back 100% with full strength, range and zero pain and did not have to get cut on for it. Same here, i was about to go under the knife but hated the thought of the long rebab . Took it as easy as i could on the shoulder for the next couple yrs & it finally got better. Still some minor pain at times but was able to avoid surgery
