I watched the movie in theater shortly after it came out. The wife and I watched it again tonight and if it doesn’t put a lump in your throat you aren’t a red blooded American. What a damn movie! I never served but could not be more appreciative for those you have! My father in law was a green beret/special forces and my dad served 4 terms overseas. My wife forbade me from any military due to her dad/mine being absent so much as children. But man, where would we be without you heroes. As I sit here so appreciative for family/freedom over the holidays I just felt the need to make make this post!

It has grossed roughly $1.4B so far...........it should serve as proof to Hollywood (though they'll mostly ignore it) that if you ditch all the preachy, woke crap and just make a fun, entertaining movie, people will spend money hand over fist to see it.

Also amen!

And no nudity. Y'all may laugh, but my goodness if you want that go somewhere else. It’s not hard to find.

Yep. Heck, I took my 12yo and 10yo to see it and it's their favorite movie now....They've watched it 2-3 more times on streaming. Other than 1 f-bomb and maybe "sh!t" 2 or 3 times, the language isn't even bad

Do not watch this if you have not seen the movie but plan to.

I assume this is about the sequel. It and the original were both good movies, even with Tom Cruise.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I personally look at them as 1 movie. And Tom Cruise is an absolute nutjob, but the dude can flat out act.

Maverick was one of the best movies I can remember seeing a very, very long time. I really really figured they would put some kind of woke or political leftist leaning messages in there, but no. That part really surprised me.

What makes the latest movie so good is the way they tie the story into the original Top Gun. First time I saw the Top Gun Maverick I had a lump in my throat when he was landing on the Carrier. Saw the original in 1986 when I was in Coast Guard Stationed at NAS Corpus Christi TX. Fun times! I liked the Maverick one better than original.

What ruined the movie for me was that it set in a fictious country with a fictious enemy. That and all the CGI.

I will say this about Tom Cruise... As batchit crazy as he is, he has this ability as an actor to pull you into his role and for an hour or so make you want to be the character that he is portraying. He did this in Taps, Bartender, Top Gun, Reacher, Etc... And that is a sign that an actor is good at their craft, and I don't think much of actors.

I felt like the CGI was pretty subtle and tastefully done. Most of the flying shots weren’t CGI, that was actually them in real F-18’s (albeit as backseaters). Some of the behind the scenes stuff is almost as good as the actual movie
