I know a guy that shot that one's grandad about 10 years ago at Portland Landing when it was privately owned.
Rack looked very similar but he only weighed 150lbs. He'd run himself ragged from the rut.

So who ran it over? The white guy or the black guy?

Why does one pic have blood on the antlers and the other doesnā€™t? Paging Green Jeansā€¦

Let me edit this: The black guy in first picture is part of the logging crew I believe and simply had his picture taken with it. The white guy in 2nd photo doesnā€™t work on logging crew but is from the area and had his picture with it as well. The white guy who actually ā€œhit the deerā€ is not pictured and works on the logging crewā€¦thereā€™s some rumors about him but I donā€™t know him personally or have any proof so Iā€™m not going to say anything

I shot and missed an eight point there when it was privately owned that had a frame like that just clean no stickers or nothing like what that deer has. I was so sick over that I just about threw the gun out of the window of the shooting house and said the heck with deer hunting.

You have to say roll tide 3 times and mean it. Mean it way down deep in your heart. And Saban knows if you mean it or not. Then and only then will you be counted worthy of a Portland Landing hunt.

Orā€¦ ride the roads in the area at night and speed up when you see eyes obviously.

My late father was one of the Founders of a club close to this area in 1967-----"Elm Bluff hunting club". We had 10,000 acres leased from Miller Lumber company that Bordered the river....for 40 cents/acre!! Killed some HUGE Bucks on that land.....many we weighed that were in the 245 pound range.....FAT Soybean eaters! Miller sold that land in the late 90's and the club was dissolved.

I got to hunt there as a guest about 1989. One of the finest places Iā€™ve ever been.

Evidently the hunters that got Mrs. Bamaeyedocā€™s spot last week got their doe limit. They wounded a shooter buck but did not recover it.

Went do to our place today just for a quick visit. Y'all better put on some waders. The road into Portland, 403 has some wash outs, nothing bad but you better go slow or it will knock your teeth out. Cedar Creek is flooded. It's MUDDY to say the least. Good luck to all that's hunting.
