I’m going to be camping in Fort Payne Next weekend I was thinking about slipping out to Little River WMA on Saturday. I see on the rut map that the rut in that area is projected for mid December is this correct from y’all’s experience? I’m gonna take my bow with me and just try to find a pretty spot and enjoy the afternoon. Just curious on y’all’s thoughts for those that have hunted there this time of year.

I hunt up in Mentone and yep rut is over. Find the food. It’s why I hunt south bama in January and not up there 😂

Lol. I really should be hunting in South Alabama. But I’m going on a camping trip with my dad and friends. I may just try to find a food plot and see what happens

lol we are essentially going on a camping trip to live for a weekend how Irish lives his whole life. Smoking cigars, cooking good food and drinking cold drinks while sitting around the fire on the side of a mountain!

That sounds perfect. I haven’t hunted that WMA but did take my kids up there last summer to canoe and fish. We also picked blackberries and hiked a good ways. The area looked good and I’m sure the hunting is decent. I’d start by thinking outside box in terms of getting set up somewhere your average hunter doesn’t. Travel routes (drainages), saddles etc near thick stuff.
