I Agree with you in theory and it sounds like the original posters is early, but let's also be mindful that there are some people that no matter what they eat today or how much exercise they get will be in a diabetic coma by dinner time. This applies to long term management. If you are bad enough that you require insulin or medication to stay out of ketoacidosis by all means don't just stop it and go for a walk.

He said he was type 2 with a 6.5 A1C. That basically means he has poisoned himself with sugar long enough. I did the same thing. I would not have given that advice to a type 1 or someone who was insulin dependent.

Go on a struck low carb diet and start taking Berberine!!!! Give it three months before you go on Metformin. Take At least 1500 mg of Berberine.

And everyone is different on the diet. Low carb doesn’t work for me. If I eat 25 carbs a day, I crave them LIKE CRAZY. So zero carbs is where I live. I got tired of inflammation and sinus issues and sore muscles and all that stuff. So I changed to meat, eggs, and a little cheese. That’s all I eat unless I cheat. Weight falls off, A1C drops, no inflammation, sinuses clear up. But most of all, I could eat 2 ribeyes for supper if I wanted to, and still lose weight and feel this way. Sometimes I skip lunch, sometimes I grab some wings or something. Usually I’m not hungry so I just work through lunch. I like fizzy stuff so I drink club sodas. LaCroix or whatever. They used to be disgusting but I love them now. I can eat 10 fried wings for lunch and a 20 oz ribeye for supper and weigh half a pound less than I did yesterday. Average weight loss has been 2-5 pounds a week after the initial 30lb drop. I like meat so it’s an easy diet for me. A little expensive eating out, but it’s the price I pay to feel good.

I think it’s a little different for everyone
I’ve been trying Thai that and the other for several years and seems things are getting worse.
My new plan is to try to do carnivore during the week and veggies and so forth over the weekend.
I’ve noticed some difference immediately

Also know a few that went full on carnivore and eliminated some health issues with their gut. Lost weight and look great eating fish and steak all the time. They eat some veggies on the weekends and kinda where I figure do go for it.
Some go all in and only eat wild caught fish and seafood and grass fed beef. No grain finished if they can help it.

The IS food system
Is not a healthy one and is manufactured for longevity and flavor all thru chemicals.

I wore a glucose monitor for a few months. It was eye opening. Chicken McNuggets spiked my blood sugar the worst.

Gotta watch condiments too!

I like it Carter. I think if it’s sustainable for you, you will feel great on it

I've been the needle since 1990. Just do what the doctor's recommend and like a lot of the good advice already on here, watch your diet. It may not make a difference in the end, but damn sure won't hurt.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

My endocrinologist said exercise and certain foods are medicine.
Metformin was ok and tolerated well. My sister had issues with it.

Do you exercise? How is your diet? Overweight? I would address these before going on meds (Coming from a pharmacist).

I’m sure you already do but just know these meds are not a cure, they are just designed to keep you afloat and dependent. You and your eating habits are the cure to type 2 diabetes. I saw a lady recently call type 2 diabetes slow mo suicide and that stuck with me. I’m a big fella that loves biscuits, taters and such but I’ve pushed them aside and I’ve gotten over the hump of craving them and don’t plan on going back. I’m all about natural, low carb foods now, and absolutely no seed oils or the like. I’m still way too heavy but I already feel tons better. I’ve even gotten good at ordering at the restaurant and not being bashful about getting what I want just like I need it. No fried stuff to avoid seed oils, real butter or no butter, etc. I’m trying my best to not ever be declared a diabetic.
