Alright, it is something I have never done, however, always something that has drawn my interest.
I know with are the creeks and rivers we have here in Alabama, there has to be some decent areas for this type fishing.
Any of you all fly fish and is it something worth investing in?

I enjoy fly fishing. There are so many small creeks around Alabama that the locations are limitless. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to pack a small cooler and wade up a creek.

We used to go to Rockbridge, Missouri every year for several years. This was a place that stocked their streams so it was a lot higher success rate and larger fish than truly wild, still fun though. It's enjoyable if you have a decent place to go and you don't have to spend a ton on gear. I have a Cabelas fly rod that is "sufficient" for occasional use

Putting a popping bug over a bream bed is a lot of fun. Don't need an expensive setup and can have a cooler full of brim the first full moon of April or May.

I've fly fished for 65 years er so. Caught everything from titty bream to 140# Tarpon on a fly. All are fun. You can catch most anything on a fly rod.
find a local fly fishing shop and take a couple lessons on casting and line control, money well spent.

A Bonito, King Mackeral, or Barracuda on a fly is next to heaven , water runs off the line halfway up as they run sideways. Watching a 30# Jack explode on a big popper is awe inspiring.

Some of my fondest memories of fishing the GBR in Australia this past year was catching trevally in the lights at night on a fly rod. What a fight!

Literally any body of water in Alabama can be great for fly fishing. I am not trying to self promote, but I am working on a Fly Fishing Alabama book that is due in a couple of months to the publisher. In wirting the book, it has opened my eyes to so many possibilities that I didn't even know existed. We live in the best dang state (well I just moved) in the lower 48 for water. A lot of people assume fly fishing means pursuing trout, and in the US, it actually started on warmwater species before the colonists started bringing over all the trout (which is a whole other conversation).
PM me with any questions, but I hope you'll give it a try!

I used to fish below Logan Martin dam with big flashy streamers for Stripes and Hybrids when the turbines were on. Way below the dam at night, no turbines with big deer hair bugs slow drug across the surface. And above the damn, at the dam, with big flashy streamers. Caught a 22# stripe on a 9 weight rod one day doing that, mid winter.

thats a nice Hybrid, good fighter.
I tied small brown , round flies to mimic catfish food and caught the snot out of catfish in several ponds. One is still an IGFA World Record on 6# tippet, Blue Cat at 67lb6oz. Took an hour and 15 min to land.
