It was such a great week I just had to share. Work was stressing me out so I took the entire week off and did nothing but turkey hunt and hang out with my buddies in South Alabama.
#1. Opening morning double beard.
#2
I thought this was pretty cool, One of my cams snapped this pic right after I applied the Tungsten to this ones head.
#3
Then my favorite hunt of the week. The landowner (and my friend) knows a local kid that loves to hunt but doesn't get to very often. I'm not going to go into any detail because it's irrelevant to the story but right now the kids dad isn't in the picture and my friend allows him to hunt his place and be a male figure in his life. Anyway I asked Friday if I could take the young man (he's 14) turkey hunting and they were gracious enough to let me be his guide for the morning. I snuck into the woods at 11 pm and set up my wifes ground blind and a couple of camp chairs and snuck out like a ninja. The next morning at daylight I had that young man in the blind and one blowing the tops out of the trees about 175 yards away. I'll let the video tell the rest of the story.
Then on Sunday I was treated to a glorious Barbour Co sunrise on a flash hunt before services and family time.

The presence of multi bearded turkeys seems to be more prevalent in South Alabama. When I was hunting North and Central Alabama it was a real rarity. Since I relocated down to the southern part of the state more than a decade ago I've killed a bunch of them. Funny thing is, I couldn't care less about the beards because I'm a spurs guy. I have 6-7 gallon freezer bags slam full of beards and probably will never do anything with them. My wife wants me to make a shadow box and display them, or at least the biggest ones anyway.
Funny story....... many years ago I went to Kansas and Nebraska with several buddies. I killed two multi bearded turkeys in Kansas, and then in Nebraska I killed three more multi beards. Out of all the turkeys killed on that trip those 5 were the only multi beards.

Good memory. I think it was in 2008 or 2009 I killed 5 birds the first 5 days of season. AON mag thought it was interesting and did a little piece on it in their magazine. I wasn't even trying to do it but that piece of property in Montevallo was slam full of turkeys and it just kinda happened.

I think I know of one multi beard bird killed around the properties I hunt up here in the north. I haven’t ever kilt one. I’m a sour guy as well, but would like to kill a multi beard before I’m dead and gone… congrats on a successful week and career so far.
