It’s too bad we don’t teach things like this now.

I had a speech class in high school. Dude comes in to do a speech on how to change a bicycle tire without popping the tube, and popped the tube and didn't finish the speech.... LOL!

My wife teaches at a charter school and is working on possibly teaching an agriculture class next year. We’ve discussed the possibility of doing this type of lesson with her high school kids. I’m not sure it would ever get the green light from the administration, but it ought to be a fun time if it does. I think a lot of kids could benefit from learning how meat gets put on the table.

I can vouch for the fact that they is alot of people in this world that know nothing about stuff like that. I will also say that there are a scary amount of hunters that cant gut a deer and just say.. “ ill pay someone else to do it”…those are the ones alot of times who cant and dont want to look like a fool. Those are the same folks who stood with their hands in their pokets while i gutted their deer in texas…cant do it…or wont…it dudnt matter to me. I gutted about 300 a season in texas and in all that time…i had one dude from Arkansas refuse to let me gut his deer…he said i kilt it..ill clean it. I had alot of respect for him after that…i would have done it anyway regardless…it was my job…but my gosh at the people i have known who love to pull the trigger…but be danged if theyll bloody their hands…we aint the same.

Agree no way I'm paying $20 for someone to skin my deer if I have the time to do it myself.

I can skin and quarter one in a hurry, but its just easier to drop the whole deer off at the processer and let them do that.

pretty sure I have never paid anyone to gut a deer for me....or skin one. Mine go to the processor in a cooler.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Other than the liver in a gallon zip lock I ain't dragging deer with guts to far . If can get right to the deer to load on something I'll bring it out ungutted.

These days if allowed, the scene in the picture above would likely turn half the class into vegans. LOL.

I had a guy instruct me, not show me how to gut my first one. I had done somewhere around 50 or 60 before I let anyone gut one for me. My hand was bandaged up with stitches from a piece of sheet metal the day before, and a friend insisted so I didn't rip stitches or nasty up my bandage much. A few years earlier I had instructed him with his first deer. Most of mine have been processed at home or quartered in a cooler when they went to the processor. Now, my back and knees are killing me by time I get through with the dragging, gutting, loading, etc, so I usually just gut and haul them to the processor.

We castrated some pigs at school about three years ago. The ag building was standing room only. The students loved it as many had never seen anything like this in their life. The ag teacher received praise from the community for teaching outside the classroom curriculum!
