I’m considering adding some “smart” light switches (WiFi enabled) to my outside lights, so I can turn the lights on from my phone. Have any of y’all done this? If yes, did you run into any problems getting them set up? And did up use a particular app to run your lights?

Thanks in advance.

We’ve got a few around. We use Enlighten App. No issues setting them up with our home WiFi network. We’ve got a deadbolt on our friendship door in the garage, so we can let someone in, if needed. It uses Wyze App.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Biggest issue you may run into is there has to be neutral in the box to provide 120V to the switch. I bought some Treatlife ones off amazon a few years back to control my outside floods. I have them set to a timer which works well.

Read the disclaimer, if you have any home school kids in the house, "Smart" switches are not recommended. grin

I’ve got KASA they work good. I’m not WiFi/ phone app connect savvy so my son seems to do it easily. It’s a free app.
I have mine on a 3 way switch.

Eaton Z-Wave switches with the Samsung Smart Things Hub. I’ve got 10 or 11 of them with my thermostat and a couple lamps running on the Smart Things App.

You will need an RF9601 for single pole switches, and an RF9603 for 3-way switches.
