i get an alert when my card is used. Got an alert it was used this week for 898 for a clothing company in Vermont I had never heard of. I looked up company online and it says "Closed" as in no longer open Tried to call company as charges were pending. Today I get a call , lady is wanting 3 digits from back of my card. It came up as the 800 number from the credit card company. She said she was from credit card company???

The true credit card company will already have your card information on file....never give that out to someone posing to be from the CC company. If I were you, I would call your cc folks to see if anything happened to go thru just for the heck of it. I hate those blodsucking scammers with a passion !!

Contest charge, report as fraudulent and cancel card/request new one.

Just call your card company direct and they will get it fixed. Its obvious fraud.

Did you go online to your account to see if there were actually charges to your card?

Not sure what you mean as "I got an alert".
If it was an email alert, which the sender's name reads something like "Chase" or whatever your credit card bank is, then often clicking on the name will show a long string of other names going to the sender of obvious scammer. Just because the email sender reads one thing, doesn't mean it is, just like changing your mobile number to show another person's name.

Never click on the links within those emails and enter your personal information, or give information to those who call you,
Always log off, hang up, etc. and you enter the trusted web address, telephone number, source of your company, in a new screen/tab/page of phone/computer..

Alert, I have it set up so every time my card is used I get an "Alert" email that it has been used.
It showed up on April 23rd and still says Pending. Just checked
One odd thing is she left a number and it is the real number to the credit card company. I tried to call them on 23 to tell them I didnt make that purchase. Of course you cant get a person and the auto person said they cant do anything about Pending purchases. Have to wait till it goes through if it does then file complain.

Got another message yesterday. This time she said please call number on back of card. I called number on back and an option was to talk to real person. Waited on hold 5ish minutes. Told him about phone call he said it was them. Told him about the charges that were not mine. He said they had already been declined. Shut that card down and got new one coming

My card company caught a charge yesterday that wasn't from me. Got a new card on the way, funny thing is that even though I don't have the new card #, Amazon does and I never had to skip a beat ordering parts online. It's an Amazon Visa so I can only assume that's why.
