Why in the world is. 30 carbine so stinkin fun to shoot?!?
I’ve seen the the ballistics, and a guy that used to carry one hunting had to get a SOLID couple hits on a deer EVERY time…or we had to track them hundreds of yards. So I’ve never really cared for them, nor have a shot them.
I got a good deal on one in a trade…and this sucker is a HOOT TO SHOOT!!!!

It may be for sentimental reasons, but the 30 Carbine is one of my most favorite guns ever. It's the first rifle my dad turned me loose with. (now think back ammo prices 25-30 years ago) ... An aperture sight, a huge bucket of ammo, a slew of cans and bricks out in front of you ... a young fellow can have a good time. I have utmost confidence I can hit whatever I desire with that gun. It taught me that low recoil and reasonable impact energy is a really nice combo. Now add the collector value of some of these rifles. Fun gun!!!!!

IDK. I can't splain it, but they are fun. My son has one and choses to carry it to the stand sometimes and has loaded a few deer in the truck as a result. I don't know of him losing one yet.

I used to hunt hogs with one a friend of my Dad’s loaned me. Wish I had one now.

I miss mine. Fun shooing rifle. I traded it for a Yamaha XT350 Enduro bike.

Tons of fun to shoot but ammo costs make it lose the charm very quickly

I always wanted one. I about had myself talked into one when you could get a decent one for around $600. I have a lot harder time talking myself into one with what they get outta one now.

Got a Ruger Blackhawk old western single action 30 cal carbine. It was my grandfathers. Love to pull that thing out every now and then and let her sing.

The carbine and M1 Garand are my favorite guns to shoot. .30 Carbine had a reputation for being weak during the Korean War, but it’s actually a pretty decent cartridge.

If you reload and make your own projectiles from wheel weights….it’s significantly cheaper again. Unless you don’t enjoy pouring, powder coating, and sizing bullets. If you don’t enjoy that, it’d suck.

Compared to a 30-06, it’s a wuss…apples and oranges. Any opposition soldier that got hit with a 30-06 173 grain bullet would a whole appendage blown off or a giant hole where it hit. I wouldn’t want to get shot with either!!!

I often think about which one I would of carried had I been there. I think I'd prefer the carbine because it's lighter and I could carry more ammo. The garand would of been miserable to carry. For the Pacific campaign, I think there would be even more benefits to the carbine.

I found myself thinking about getting one at $1425.00, I tried to justify it because I got a deal on .308 hard cast 110 gr.round tip wad cutters. No clue if they would work and already have an AR and AR pistol in .300 blackout, so yeah, they work.I just don't need another caliber to reload for!!
But they are pretty!!!

The old timer that took me in and taught me the hunting outdoors when I was young shot a 30 cal carbine with a peep sight.Man killed lots of very nice bucks that us boys would push out of the clearcuts draws. We all had shotguns and he told us as long as those deer stayed in there they were ours. But when they went uphill they were his. He shot a 10 round clip and wasn’t shy about pulling the trigger. We drug a load of deer out those hills back in the 60’s/70’s .

I don’t have a 30 cal but I kinda feel the same about the 300 BO.
It’s just fun to shoot. It’s all I hog hunt with and my daughter has killed some good deer with it.
