Why in the world is. 30 carbine so stinkin fun to shoot?!? I’ve seen the the ballistics, and a guy that used to carry one hunting had to get a SOLID couple hits on a deer EVERY time…or we had to track them hundreds of yards. So I’ve never really cared for them, nor have a shot them. I got a good deal on one in a trade…and this sucker is a HOOT TO SHOOT!!!!
What kind did you get?

Got a Ruger Blackhawk old western single action 30 cal carbine. It was my grandfathers. Love to pull that thing out every now and then and let her sing.

Tons of fun to shoot but ammo costs make it lose the charm very quickly If you reload and make your own projectiles from wheel weights….it’s significantly cheaper again. Unless you don’t enjoy pouring, powder coating, and sizing bullets. If you don’t enjoy that, it’d suck.

The carbine and M1 Garand are my favorite guns to shoot. .30 Carbine had a reputation for being weak during the Korean War, but it’s actually a pretty decent cartridge. Compared to a 30-06, it’s a wuss…apples and oranges. Any opposition soldier that got hit with a 30-06 173 grain bullet would a whole appendage blown off or a giant hole where it hit. I wouldn’t want to get shot with either!!!

The garand would of been miserable to carry. For the Pacific campaign, I think there would be even more benefits to the carbine.

I found myself thinking about getting one at $1425.00, I tried to justify it because I got a deal on .308 hard cast 110 gr.round tip wad cutters. No clue if they would work and already have an AR and AR pistol in .300 blackout, so yeah, they work.I just don't need another caliber to reload for!! But they are pretty!!!
half of one, six dozen of the other I can eat fifty eggs.........Cool Hand Luke

I don’t have a 30 cal but I kinda feel the same about the 300 BO. It’s just fun to shoot. It’s all I hog hunt with and my daughter has killed some good deer with it.
