No. Close to the grandkids and moving is too much of a hassle. Done it too many times and I’m over it.

I know the lack of pay in Bama has kept my son from moving back. They make good money on regular hourly jobs but they make bank here with state/federal prevailing wages. Guessing 95% of his work is prevailing wage.

Variables are involved. Mainly how much and where.

Savannah is a bit too far to just commute from the H'ville area, but that was my first thought/suggestion. If you could work longer hours across fewer days, maybe investing in a camper to pull to stay in while there might be an idea to keep from completely moving from Alabama.

Yeah i thought Savannahs going in crapper 🤔

Atlanta might currently be better than Savannah....Savannah isn't "going" in the crapper, it is the crapper

I don’t know much about the city but I worked at an airport in the area and it didn’t take long to realize how mild the heat and humidity is in Alabama.

Lived most of my life in Alabama except for a couple of years in South Carolina. I was not a fan of SC. I’m on medical leave after just having my second Achilles tendon reconstruction surgery in three months and probably retiring when I’m released. I’d definitely consider moving, but it wouldn’t be anywhere as hot and humid as it is here. Kentucky would be an option or western Virginia and NC, possibly northern Arkansas.

For 60k extra a year it'd be hard not to give it a go. I could put a lot more back towards retirement and maybe even make a difference in when I would retire.

Moved multiple times for work, always for more salary/higher position. Grew up in Alabama, but have lived in South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas. You can find something to hate everywhere, and something to love. Keep an open mind and keep your eyes ion the final goal. You can always move back later.
