I’ll say this, the older Nissan frontiers are really good too. Great inter locking hubs, not a minutes problem. I had an 02 with over 200,000 when I sold it to a kid that totaled it….

What year did they change from the 3.0 V6 to the 3.4? 3.0 was the only “bad” engine I’ve ever heard of associated with Toyota. Supposed to have head gasket problems. I don’t know if there’s a fix for that, other than swapping a 3.4 in which I’ve read can be done.
Get a Carfax on anything and find out where it’s from! Son and I went to look at 2nd gen (13) at dealership in Ft Walton. Truck was from Northeast and had a rusty frame. They got scammed on it and we’re gonna send it to auction. Toyota dealer across town had some decent prices on 3rd Gen Tacoma’s but had a BUNCH of insane fees and crap they added to the price (reconditioning cleaning and servicing was one).
I’ll be a broke down SOB before I’d work at most car dealerships. I believe the years for the 3.0 was 87,88-95 . Many Toyota gurus think the head problem stems from how the exhaust is routed over the top of the engine , behind the heads . I agree , dumb design . It creates excess heat and a bunch of it, at the rear of the heads. I've never been in one of them , but I understand when rebuilding the average shade tree mechanic will miss some things that must be done correctly or it won't stay together. If I owned one I was gonna keep , I'd reroute the exhaust or , as bad as I dislike them , put headers on it. Every now and then you'll run up on one with high milage that's never had a bolt turned on the engine. But most high mileage 3.0s have had at least head problems .

Found it. And he’s in West Virginia. Have no problem traveling or having one shipped if it’s the right one but that’s a bit far for me. Going off his ending comment…I’m not helping fund his new $75k Tundra😂 the search continues Posted that for buck-bomb, maybe he will if he likes it..

95 was change over year. Went from 3.0 to 3.4 Went from 2.4 to 2.7 95 was a split year early 95 was a 3rd gen toyota pickup and 2nd gen 4runner late 95 or 95.5 was tacomas and 3rd gen 4runners during that change they went from 22re(2.4L) to 3rz(2.7L) only in 4wd and 2wd prerunner tacomas, t100, and 4runners. The 5 lug 2wd tacomas received a 2rz(2.4L) The 3.0 3vz was replaced with the 3.4 5vz engine. The t100 was the only model in its production run to have all of the options except the 2rz and was replaced by the tundra in 99.

I've had a few different ones. They all ride like crap, no space and ain't cheap to work on. They were fun when you're young but now that I'm older, no thanks. My dog wouldn't even fit in the truck bed. Can't haul anything. I sat in a 95 a few months ago and it felt like a go cart 🤣. Later I bought a nice 2003 and it drank gas worse than my Silverado
