Dr. Michael Chamberlain owes turkey hunters in several states a big apology for promoting such an unsubstantiated theory as “dominant gobbler”. Unfortunately that won’t happen because the good professor became a celebrity (and most likely wealthy) promoting this false religion to hyper-reactive/nervous game departments and internet followers. I’m just glad my home state of MS waited for REAL data and that we have Adam Butler as our biologist.

Study after study. I don't get it. We can add 1+1 and the answer is still 2 at the end of the day. Common sense is predators and I don't care what anyone says.

It's past time for each district to stop spending money on studies and spend it on trapping.

Everything predates turkey except trees.

Maybe they’ll open the season up the first of March next season. Do some kinda deal like Mississippi and make the first couple of weeks be a draw for nonresidents or for residents only. 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like deer , the dominate male breeds a few females early , then as breeding progresses , other males get in on the action.

We ain't changing anything for the good , long as Chuckie is in charge .

You really should watch these latest videos. That agenda is dead, the autopsy has been performed, and the last shovel of dirt just hit the top of the grave thumbup

The dominate buck does not breed all the does , not even close.

When ppl talk about the “dominate buck” I just scratch my head and let them go. There’s aggressive bucks and there’s passive bucks and they all breed. Who’s more dominate? The one whipping butt or the one breeding does in the bushes while he’s expressing his dominance?😂

What videos, sir? I want to watch em. Sorry I’m in the dark. I still been hunting the fire out of em up through this past Monday.

Jughead - the last two episodes of the wild turkey science podcasts. If you don’t have 3 hours, watch the first 25 minutes of the latest episode.

We can't even all agree that there has been an actual decline in turkey populations. It is obscured a good bit by perception so much that it is hard to even say for certain on a broad scale.

Some mornings I hear 10 gobblers, some mornings I hear 0

Does that mean they are there and just didn't gobble? Or are they just not there?

Purely anecdotally, I can tell you I hear way more gobblers now than I did 10 years ago. I attribute that to better private land I have access to now as opposed to when I was younger and couldn't afford it. But everyone's anecdotal evidence is different. I really don't know how we set out to solve a problem that we can't even wrap our head around is actually there or not

I have no agenda sir, other than wanting more turkeys. Just post the data wherever it is published from the research not the mossy oak talking points please

In my experience of hunting over the last 60 years the turkeys IN THE PLACES I HUNT have definitely decreased dramatically in numbers.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Number 77 that dropped 8 days ago or 78 that dropped yesterday? I just watched #76 with Adam Butler. That guy (my first introduction to him in particular) is gonna end up being a monumental hero in fighting this silly arse dominant gobbler, later seasons, lower limits horsechit.
