We are in the process of being turned into a 3rd World Country and we have now reached the point at which we need 3rd World workers to come in here and populate the County with cheap labor. The issues with our population are 100% an economic problem. We put the women to work... that meant 2 earner households. As that unfolded during the 70's and 80's maybe some here got ahead financially as a 2 earner household. Today, however the system is setup for that income level which necessitates both incomes. Everything got more expensive because people could afford it. That will always continue that is basic economics.
Then George W came along with a guy named Alan Greenspan who chopped interest rates to stimulate the Economy. And they gave anyone with a pulse a loan which created another economic issue what came crashing down less than 10 years later. After George W's dumbass exited we were blessed with Obama and Modern Monetary Theory. That's when we REALLY started printing money We have been in a economic tailspin ever since but EVERYONE including most here can't comprehend that. We have borrowed $30+ Trillion since that point that has given the economic appearance of something quite different. We appear to have thrived but all we have done is put it all on our Credit Card. And we haven't checked up yet. Still printing.
Young people who work for me have $1k going towards Health Insurance monthly. They can't come up with $50k+ in cash just for the down payment on the house that costs too much because the vehicle they need to get to work costs too much. Now groceries cost too much and insurance and property taxes, etc. It's everything.
We in bad shape. The current plan is to bring in illegals to keep wages suppressed IMO and replace us in the process. The plan is to keep cheap goods from China rolling in and to wipe out the middle class. Everyone who had money 10 years ago has a whole lot more today. I don't think people realize who large the income gap has really become.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Is that $1K for health insurance just their part as an employee or is that what they are paying out of pocket without it a benefit of employment?

$1k a month is under where I am at for a 22 year old and a 24 year old each. But thanks to Obamacare, I have to wait until they are 26 or hope they get a salaried healthcare providing job to stop having to pay it. Even though I was paying for my own when I was 19. .

I bet average rates for BCBS is around $2k per month for Family Coverage. I am speaking above to starting a family not living on the cheap. I could easily afford BC/BS Health Insurance at their ages. There are cheaper options but a lot are not sure if those are good options and most stick with Blue Cross.

Who on this forum did not at one time or another have some ancestors that weren't foreign born?
How many generations did it take for your family to become 'Murican? One generation? Two?
Serious questions... I don’t personally have an answer to your question. However, I do remember reading/hearing about it taking longer if too many migrants arrive in too short period of time. They balkanize as oppose to assimilate. If memory serves me correctly, that’s what the movie “Gangs of New York” was slightly based on. Also why in our history we have halted all immigration or severely restricted it at times. If you look across the pond you will see prime examples of the Muslim’s balkanizing in many Western European countries.
