I was on it for years. I only had a few bad moments. smile

It worked. My new Dr. warned me about long term memory issues and wanted me off of it. I weaned from it, but it was difficult.

Been riding the dragon 10+ years. Several odd events. Take it and go to bed. Works for me

Same here. Used to take Ambien along with other meds to sleep. Quit them in January and my mind is much clearer. I will go without sleep before taking that crap again.

I’ve got two ambien stories. One turned out ok and one didn’t .
Years ago i got an ambien prescription and would break the pills in half and take half a dose. One night a group of guys played cards at my house and we had decided we would play until 10:00. So at 9:30 I took a half pill so that when I went to bed it wouldn’t take me long to go to sleep. The game lasted longer than expected and I was told the next day that I was totally out of it and making no sense at all and they called the game and made me go to bed . I had no recollection of it and they were worried enough about me to call the next morning to check on me. Granted I had drank two beers that night and it probably multiplied the effect of the ambien.

Second story is harder to tell and happened just over two weeks ago on a Saturday morning. I had just got back from a fishing trip and was having breakfast with my wife when she got a phone call .i could see in a split second that something was bad wrong. She then fell to the floor crying so hard and in more pain than I knew a human could be in hollering her brothers name. The story goes that he got up before daylight as usual , got a pill off his bedside table, took it and went to his office to do some work as he usually does. Two or three hours later he leaves , picks up some flowers for his son’s prom date , stops and buys a gallon of milk, passes his house ,pulls into the woods ,gets out on the tailgate of his truck and kills himself. This was the most even-killed and calm person I know. He had a beautiful wife and family that he loved very much and his siblings, parents and I loved him alot as well.He was at a good place in life having just finished paying off a business he was buying the the past several years and making a very good living. He also had a ton of friends and was respected by many. So much so that the visitation lasted four hours before the line ended. His family , friends and doctor could not believe it . Everyone said this was not him it had to be medicine doing this to him. A day or two later his wife checks his two prescriptions on the bedside table. After counting pills she and the doctor determined he had taken an ambien that morning instead of his other pill that was the same color. His doctor said that would explain his behavior as people have terrible hallucinations on this drug ,especially if you don’t go to sleep immediately . This doesn’t bring him back but it will help the family heal a little faster knowing this was tragic mistake that happened when he was not in his right mind and not a premeditated selfish act. Y’all think twice before before getting on this medicine.

I promise some of the posts have been fueled by bourbon! smile

I did take an ambien one night and went to sleep. Friend called and I decided to get back up and talk to him.

Poured a few brown waters and talked for an hour. Woke up the next morning feeling like death. Noticed I had a GIANT bruise on pretty much my entire left side of my body. Had no clue as to what happened.

My son says “ I know what happened”. Apparently, I challenged my son and step son to a wrestling match and got my ass kicked all over the house.

How does this stuff affect people with severe sleep apnea. Seems like if it puts you into a really deep sleep you could suffocate from severe apnea.
