My granddad stopped smoking cold turkey in the parking lot of the cardiologist office after being told to stop. He smoked since before he was a teen so it was probably 50+ years. He ate Certs by the box til he passed tho.

My dad quit chewing cold turkey after dentist found a pre-cancerous spot on his gum. I asked him years later if he still had cravings. His exact words were “I could eat a box of Beechnut right now but just don’t.” That was probably 20 years after he quit.

On her deathbed, mom was going through the motions of smoking a cigarette. I’ll never forget that. She’s in a morphine induced state and pulling her hand to her mouth over and over as if she was holding a cigarette. I knew then that nicotine was a bad thing if she’s 4 hours from dying and still going through the motions. It also made me realize how tough it had to be for dad and grandad to stop.

Both my younger brothers dip. Been doing it since teenagers and both are in their 50s. I hear ‘em spitting in bottle every time we talk on phone. Can't stop.

It can be done but I’m convinced nicotine is the hardest addiction to break. Prayers for you and good luck.

I stopped November 2020 when I got married.

My dad dipped for 30 plus years and finally quit after getting into church, he asked the lord to take it from him and he did. He loved it, I mean swallow it love it.

I loved it to. Done it since I was 15. I had "quit" a few times just to show myself I could. Longest I ever went was 1 year to the date just to show myself I could quit. After my dad told me quitting a year wasn't quitting. I Have not had one in 4 years. I can't say I don't miss it.

If a buddy has a can I will open it and smell it and give it back to him. That is enough for me. EVERY once in a while it will hit me after I eat I will have a craving for one. But the best way to quit is just to quit. Don't wait till you are done with that can.... or that roll... throw it

all away.

I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

I quit Copenhagen by using mini fireballs, I’d stick them in my cheek and spit the juice when it got hot kinda like dip.
That was over 20 years ago.
Good luck!

You have to really want to, and if you don't really won't to, you want. If you really want to you can quit.

First three days are beyond tough. The first two weeks are a little better but still hard. Every day gets a little easier.

Ive "quit" a few times but now I just do it when I hunt or fish. Probably why I try to hunt and fish so often. 😄

Not dip, but chewing tobacco. I quit cold turkey back in 2012 and it was tough to begin with. I honestly think quitting chewing tobacco was harder than when I quit drinking cool beers.

I dipped for a long time. It took me a year to convince myself to quit and I made it a new years resolution. It was tough. Really tough. I liked Kodiak. I really like wintergreen. Even 7 years later, I could smell it and crave it, but eventually the cravings went away.

You can do it, just set your mind to it.

If I quit drinking, you can quit tobacco. Just gotta get to the point where you truly want to quit enough to face the craving and walk through it. I expect it’s like alcohol in that over the years I met lots who liked the idea of quitting, just were not yet motivated enough to do what was necessary to actually quit. And it is no fun getting shed of any addiction. Might try hitting your knees and asking the Big Guy to remove the desire to use from you. He can do it.

Had a buddy get aesophageal cancer probably from dipping. I dipped for 10 years and kept getting reflux problems and my gums were a mess. Was expecting my first daughter and I just told myself I wanted to live to see her grow up and I felt like a slave to the dip. Quit cold turkey. Tough but can be done. Whenever I wanted a dip bad I just told myself how big of a possy I was if I gave in to the urge. Started chewing gum and it helped. A friend gave me a dip years later and I nearly puked. Can't believe I did that nasty shucks for so many years.

I quit smoking after 30 years. Cold turkey. Then started dipping. A can a day trade off one bad to another.

I dipped for 10 years . I tried to quit many times because I knew I needed to for my health. Knowing you should quit is not the same as wanting to and having a made up mind . When I finally had enough of that little can controlling my life I made up my mind completely to quit and it was a done deal. It took a lot of praying to get to that point. I can’t stand the smell of the stuff now.

I quit dipping close to 30 years ago. If crack cocaine is any harder to quit than skoal I feel sorry for the ones on it. I craved a dip for 2 months and it took a year for me to smell someone open a can and not want to tackle them and take a dip. After that I didn't want it, it actually stinks to me now. You can do about anything if you set your mind to it. I chewed enough gum back then that I could have bit a 16 penny nail in to.

Snuff dipper for 45 years. May 13 was 2 years quit. Started using the Smoky mountain fake snuff from Walgreens. Didn’t care for it much so that helped quit that too. Good luck and it can be done
