So I'm on a family vacation in Mentone and was thinking of going redeye fishing one day. I think I would be ok once I got to the water, but the hike in and out might kill an old man like me. Where would be the easiest place to get in the river? My daughter thinks the Everhart trail could get us to some fishing, but I'm wondering if there is an easier place to get to an area that isn't full of swimmers. Thanks for any ideas. I will go ahead and make AuTrout proud of me and promise to throw back anything we might catch.

There is a kayak put in next to the Little River Falls over look, I have not been down it. Eberhart trail will get you down to the river. Take your time as it is steep.

Thanks Ed, we decided to go to a place in the state park on the west fork of the river. It was easy access, but that meant there would be too many people around for fishing. There might be too many people here for fishing anywhere.

Go to Billy Ford crossing on the management area, you drive right to it. The fish up towards the small island. I've caught them there before on small spinners. Maybe this will help. Thanks!

Well, my daughters decided we would go to the Canyon Mouth park, so I fished up stream a ways and caught 3 spots. Even getting nearly a mile from the parking lot on a Monday morning, there were swimmers already in the best looking holes. I don't think it's worth the trouble to try to fish here.

Y’all Just go to the local Walmart, I’m sure they got some puddles in the parking lot you would pull a few out of! Glad you found a few at least.
