Looking for a GAS push mower.
This will be for regular residential use on a slight hill. Seems like replacing parts on my Husqvarna will add up quick and may or not fix the issues.
Kind of looking at the Toro Recycler with the Personal Pace also looks like the Honda ((HRN) mowers were strong mowers but getting tougher to find as Honda seems to be out of the business now.
Any recommendations thoughts/experience with newer models that are available now?
Thanks

Doesn’t matter which Juan. Just hire Juan. Problem solved.

Honda. They last.

I know of three that were bought at lowes that lasted less than a year. I've been told the carburetor are junk.

I've got a Murray from (I think) Walmart that is at least 22yrs old, and maybe a little more. That thing refuses to die. My dad bought it when I was in highschool in the early-2000's. I used it for a few summers cutting grass as a summer job, then he gave it to me when I was in college to cut grass at my rental house.

I have NEVER changed the oil in it (I don't even remember the last time I checked the oil)
I've never changed the air filter (I think I might have blown it out with an air hose once)
I've NEVER bothered to run ethanol-free gas through it
I've replaced one spark plug in it...ever
The self-propel, where it engages/disengages, messed up a LONG time ago and is now permanently on, via cable ties
The throttle cable broke, so now the throttle is held wide-azz-open via cable ties
There are 3 bolts that hold the engine to the body (2 in front and 1 in back), but the 2 front ones have rusted completely away from the frame, so I had to ratchet-strap the engine down just to keep it from flying up when I pull on the pull-start.

And despite all of that, even after sitting for months at a time, it will still start on the 2nd or 3rd pull....and once it's been started for the first time after a long hiatus, it'll then consistently start on the first pull...every time.

I don't even need a push mower anymore...I've had a riding mower for years now, but I keep that old push mower just to see how long it will last.

I have the same story as gomer. Briggs and Stratton. Bought in early 2000s. 4 low wheels, no self propel. I tried to kill it many times and it just smokes real bad and keeps on rocking. Last time I cranked was 2022 after it had sat for a few years and it cranked in 3 pulls. Figured I'm never gonna kill this thing so it sits under my deck as a back up.

probably have the same mower still our weekly cutter. Think I paid a hundred something bucks for it. After looking at the price the other week of new gas push mowers I hope it last 20 more. I thought about putting new blades on it this year but not sure I can get the originals off lol

same as gomer. I just junked my old mower because the deck had rusted through. Always ran great. Luckily I had a buddy that bought a property that had an old mower (weedeater brand) in a shed. I cleaned the carb and it fired right up. It is a piece of junk though.

Ive looked at mowers for the last couple years and I would buy a honda if buying nee. But, I'll probably just pick up a couple more old used ones when I find them. You should see my sweet zero turn I got for free..... 1980s snapper. Guy said it didnt run. 1 cheap chinese carb later and I'm bouncing all over the yard. eek

Toro GTS. I've abused the heck out of one for the past 11 yrs and still cranks on the first pull, every single time.

Similar to Gomer, I have a 20-ish year old Toro push mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine. Oil has never been changed, has never read low, and has never looked like it needed to be changed. Put on a new air filter and spark plug once or twice. I need to replace the lightweight spring that operates the automatic choke, but it still works. I might have put a new blade on it in 2015 or so, I just can't recall. Runs on whatever gas I put in it. Doesn't run the smoothest and smokes a bit at startup, but I don't think it can be killed.

Although for the last year we have mostly used a self-propelled Ego 56V electric mower with the replacement blade designed for bagging clippings, and it's been great for our centipede grass yard.

I’ve been happy with the toro 22” recycler I bought it used and it’s been good. I cut about 13 yards every two weeks with it.

I have a plan pro push mower with a bagger and I abuse the hell out of this thing for 3 years now and still cranks 1st or second pull. I will definitely buy another if this one quits

Mine is 15 years old and runs great. Replaced the cable for the Personal Pace drive last week. Cable was $47.00

While I was picking up the cable at the mower shop I saw a new Scag commercial push mower. Had a $1,700 price tag on it!
