marshmud991 OP Booner M Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 10,019 USA	A buddy gave me some .30cal. 180gr hornady interlock bullets that he found and wasn’t going to use. I loaded up 5 rounds with 43grs of Varget and shot them out of my old trusty heavy barreled savage 308. I’ve never shot a 180gr bullet through this rifle before. Always shot 165gr ammo. Apparently I should have!! 5 shot 100yd group. The left hole is the cold barrel first shot. It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

I have a buddy who shoots that bullet in a Rem Model Seven and he says that it is THE load for his gun. Leaves a blood trail about 3' long! Remember: It aint what you shoot...it's how you shoot it.

I wanted to squeeze every drop I could out of a caliber! That’s why I used a .300wbymag for decades. Man my perspective sure has changed. I love all sorts of calibers but for what I do, hand me a .308 in a good rifle and I am a happy camper!!! Hunting brings out the worst in people.

I’ve always wanted one and always went went the 308. I’m going to buy me a nice wood stocked Tikka T3 Hunter in a left handed bolt action. I have died, casings, and bullets to reload for a 7-08 so I need the rifle to shoot them in. Also this will be my “grown up rifle”. I’ve never bought a really nice rifle and I’m finally at a point where I want to spend the money on a nice rifle and scope. Of course Mrs. Marsh just gave me that look and shook her head when I told her what I wanted to do. Gotta love her!! It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

Finally bought me Sako 85 in 7-08 and it is by far my favorite hunting rifle I have ever owned ! You haven't been blocked until you've been flock blocked!!!

Most groups were sub moa, but not tight. I tried some shooters world precision rifle and wow! Best 5 shot group ive ever shot was .320 center to center. Last edited by Ar-Humter; 07/11/24 06:50 AM.
