On the 4th Garlan was seriously injured in a watercraft accident on Smith Lake. Air lifted to UAB with broken ribs, punctured lung, ruptured spleen and fractured back. He is expected to make a full recovery.
I've known him for many years and think he is a great person.

Thats going to be tough to recover from, but the alternative could have been worse. Prayers for the best.

I think Garlan and his son were on separate machines, Garlan hit a big wave and fell off, that's when he got hit by the other machine.

Hope he makes a full recovery. There were kids all over Logan Martin on PWC, acting stupid, getting too close to boats, etc. No supervision for kids is a recipe for disaster. We didn't have any serious issues, but people got too close to tubers for my comfort on multiple occasions.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

My parents lived on Smith for 20 plus years. They sold because of the pwc and the big boats. They hated the weekends and holidays.

That's why I quit fishing back in the late nineties when PWC were getting popular. Maybe those operators have more respect for other boats this day and time, but I doubt it.
