Have used happy jack and diesel and have used the motor oil too. It’s been a while.

Treat yard/pens every week for 3 weeks. Fleas cycle every 11 days and you got to break that cycle
take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids

dang,,,Happy Jack -havent heard of that in ages...used to wash my bird dogs with it.. they'd have a fit and roll, rub, howl after treatment-they hated that crap.. do they still make it? They still make Happy Jack, I get it at a local feed store in Prattville, it does seem like it has changed over the years and not the same thing I used about 15 yrs. ago.......watered down or something.....I use it several times a year and don't have a problem with fleas on my dogs.....I use several other products too around the house and in the yard......

For the guys that dip their dogs with motor oil, do you know why it works? Can't speak to it for fleas, but for mange, the reason motor oil works is due to high amounts of sulfur in used motor oil. As far as flea's. I'm pretty sure permethrin will get it. You can spray the kennel down with it and just about any of the OTC lice shampoo's have permethrin in them. Wash the dogs with that and should take care of it.

I've said it before, and once again, there are lots of products that will kill adult fleas. The problem is 90-95% of the fleas, aren't on the dog, yet. Adult fleas account for 5-10% and must suck blood from an animal in order to lay eggs. The eggs drop off the dog and hatch into larvae. Those larvae eventually spin a cocoon that protects them from insecticides. They can hang out if environmental conditions are optimal for months. Nothing will kill them other than maybe fire. This is why you can bath the fleas off a dog, and the next day they're back. Carbon dioxide and vibration cause them to hatch. As soon as they hatch, they're looking for a blood meal to start laying eggs. Preventing the fleas from sucking blood is the only way to do this. If they bite an animal on prevention, they die before they can reproduce and the cycle stops. However, the environmental load of immature fleas is still high. This is why it can take months before a flea problem is eradicated. Spraying the environment the animal is in can help, but the third stage pupa is not affected, allowing the cycle to continue as long as there is an animal for them to suck blood from. Fleas suck.

Was waiting on you to give us the annual lesson on fleas that comes around every year when it is warm. In summary, your saying that Bravecto or something similar, kills the flea when they bite the dog before they can lay eggs but there are still going to be eggs around in the carpeting for example, that will hatch and look for a blood meal. Hopefully that will be on the dog full of Bravecto and not you. Eventually, all the eggs hatch, bite a treated animal and die. Takes time but eventually they will all disappear. I hate a flea and hated having to go in houses and yards with them. Poorer people require police services more than others and poorer people have less money to properly take care of their animals. Connect the dots. I kept a can of Bengal in my trunk and often I left a call and sprayed my legs down before leaving.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
