I've got a decent crop of milo / beans mix going. Looking into it I can see bare ground under all of it. Have any of you ever seeded into a standing crop like that and had success? left it standing or bushhogged onto the seed or after it was growing?
Thought about a mix of clover and brassicas into it
thoughts?

I hope it works, I plan on doing it this year. I plant about 8 acres of summer plots and after some trial and error the last few years I think I have figured out what will work best. Part of that is going to be planting no till into a cover crop. I need to increase my soil fertility and hopefully decrease fertilizer costs. I did a side by side comparison this year of a five way summer mix and my old standby of RR corn/Eagle Beans and there was no comparison, it will be corn/beans from here on out. So if clover feeds some deer and gets some nitrogen in the soil it’s a win win.

I did crimson clover and wheat into standing beans several years back, and it was great. Now I can't get the beans to survive long enough to have a standing crop.

I feel your ur pain. It became obvious this year the only way it’s gonna happen is if I e fence the whole field. Already have a solar charger and fencing for 4 ac but was a couple of weeks too late getting it up and running. Figured I had a little time but the sob’s ate the entire 8 acres at second leaf which they had never done before. The eagles hung in and are stilll kicking out some leaves but the 5 way could not hack it.

I did it into Milo and the problem I had when the season came in and the Milo turned brown late in the afternoons the deer blended in so well well in it you couldn’t see them. I can back and bushhogged everything so I could see them

My pea and bean mix is 3-4 foot tall now. First year I tried them, not sure the deer know what to do with them,
I was wanting to do the same. I may have to bushhog lanes and strips in the fields to see the deer until everything dies back. I thought about over seeding in the standing beans with wheat and oat mix.

If that's the case, you wouldn't have to worry about it coming up LOL !!! Plus the deer eat it up.
