Jefferson's. It is a chain, but they have really good wings. Get the double dipped wings with hot sauce on the side..... Onion Rings are legit too.

Never ate at the one in Jacksonville, but eat at the B'ham location all the time.

I travel a lot but don’t eat at many sit down restaurants. Had customer come down to Prattville last summer to make a deposit and they asked if there were any good restaurants in the area. I politely told them we eat at dollar general most days and didn’t know of any. I did tell them to try a couple of local places.

The Rocket in Jacksonville is small place but good.

Nah, we usually have nice meal of sandwiches, chips and drinks. When you were in elementary school, did you ever put chips on the inside of your sandwich with the meat? We like spicy brown mustard too.

Jefferson’s or Cooter Browns. I eat at one or the other any time I get back around that way. Both have ample options that will work for a group of folks.

I've never had a bad meal at the Rocket. There used to be a good pizza place in the square. Roma's maybe? I don't know if it's still there but it used to be pretty good. Cooter's is good, as is Dad's BBQ, just a few miles south in North Anniston. If you like Brisket go to Dad's.

And a question for any Piedmontians here, Is Grissom's Dairy King still in business? On hwy 278? Great burgers. I remember going to the old location out by Gerald Willis's sawmill. I know they were there before 1970.

The Dairy King location on 278 is now The Roadside Grill. Great food and good variety.

The Rocket is really good for burgers. Used to take my wife there when we were dating in the 80's.

Tragically, Roma's has closed permanently. The original owners were family friends, and had a great back story. Mr. Nick (not his real name) and his lovely wife Tina were just awesome people. He came to the US in the late 1950's and opened the restaurant after working for other people. When he bought the Roma's location on the square, they lived upstairs over the restaurant. He decided it was time to get married, and sent a letter to his brother who still lived in Greece to find him a wife. The brother put Tina on a plane, and Nick closed the restaurant for a day to go pick her up in Atlanta at the airport. This was sometime in the early 60's. They stopped at the closest Greek Orthodox church, got married, and drove back to Jacksonville where they opened the restaurant for lunch the next day.

Nick passed away sometime around 2005 and his son took over. Name changed to Nick's place at some point, but Miss Tina was still a fixture there. One of the sweetest humans I have ever met. I was always greeted with a big hug and a kiss on both cheeks. After I moved away, when I would stop in, she would always cry when I came in and tell me that she missed me and called me "my boy". Best baklava ever, and she made it from scratch herself. Mom lived outside Jacksonville until fall of 2017. They closed sometime after that.

Short drive to Anniston where Mata's Greek Pizza is located. When I was local, they were always really good. Didn't eat there much, because we were Roma's people and Mr. Nick's pizza was the absolute best.

ate at a few Jefferson’s up this way. Pretty good grub. I usually get the burger with egg whatever it’s called and onion rings. The onion ring sauce is good on everything 👍
