Curious if anyone has a yamaha hpdi outboard and use something other than yamalube - like pennzoil premium plus? Bought a used boat last summer with a 200 hpdi and the dealer put in pennzoil so that is what I have used. Been reading online trying to figure out if the yamalube vs. something else makes a difference.

As a matter of fact I had a 03 Yammie HPDI and for the first 2 years ran yamalube but switched to Pennzoil and never had a problem ran the same only difference I could tell was just a little more exhaust smoke at start up it was minor (not like the old motors that looked like skeeter sprayers)sold the boat in 2010 and the guy that bought the boat still runs the Pennzoil as far as I know..Plus as you know the Pennzoil was less than half the $$

i run a 2002 yamaha 150 hpdi and use quicksilver or yamalube. i do try to get the yamalube when i can, but cary my own one-gallon jugs to bucks island marina in southside when i'm down that way. they will fill them with yamalube for $17 last time i done that.

I run Yamalube in my 2000 2000 VMax and (knock on wood) have not had any problems with it.. of course, I run non-ethenol gas too... I get my oil UPS shipped out of Miami FL.. cheaper for me to do it that way then to drive to Brech Marine and get my jugs refilled...
