Do not push with tractor . If it wobbles too much top will break out hit your tractor . Tie long rope as high up bucket will lift u. Make sure it longer than length of tree. Tug on it with tractor while someone saws backside . Don’t have notch it . May fall while ur notching if bad rotten. Those types of trees are called "widow makers" for a reason. Been many an equipment operator killed pushing on tall dead trees like that. The top is thinner than the trunk and it rots out much quicker. If it's still solid up top, youre fine. But if it is not, and you wont know for sure until you push on it, when you push on it, the trunk will want to move and when it does, the top will wobble out on the push and when it sways back, a lot of times it is enough for it to break off and it'll fall right back on top of the cab. Brushwhacker is correct on the safe way. Get a long rope as high up on the trunk as you can, get the tractor or a truck hooked to the rope and pulling in the direction you want it to fall and just cut it off from the backside.

This thread almost ranks up within gomer getting stuck. You got a tractor with forks.. will take a couple minutes to move little blind then cut the tree and let it falls where it wants if you’re uncomfortable . Put stand back then put all of limbs and logs in front of blind for screen.

Cut it just like you would a green one except push it very gently, just enough to get it to go over. If you rock it or push it fast the top could break out. Push it gently and in case you didnt hear me, push it gently. Dont cut all the way through it, leave about 2" holding in the middle. And one more thing, push it gently, just enough to get it to lean. And let the saw man get out of the eay before you push it id go with what this man says.. this is his job and lively hood cutting down trees.

I would just put a good rope in it and put pressure on it and cut it. Be careful as dead trees will kill you. The top can break out and come straight down.

I personally have pushed my bucket as high as I can against the tree, notched it on the opposite side and cut them down. Just wear a hard hat and don’t let a top fall out on you.

If you can afford a Redneck Blind and a John Deere cab tractor, you can afford to pay someone else to cut it down for you.

Rednecks are not that bad to move. Why put the tractor at risk?

My tractor ain't going near it and I'm looking up as much as I'm cutting. Limbs in trees like that are looking for an excuse too fall. A chainsaw digging into it's base is a good enough excuse.

Nice blind! I'll need to come around late January to help evaluate the situation and maybe get in a Hunt 🤷🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for the advice guys. Moving the blind is harder than you think. It ain’t heavy but it’s high.
The main thing I was worried about was the dead limbs falling off when I notch it. I didn’t know if there was a technique to use to avoid that risk.
I’m gonna put a rope up high with a fishing pole cast, notch it, and pull it over with the tractor. Dont put the rope high. Put it low and pull it slow. But what do i know, ive only cut a couple thousand of them. Limbs are not likely to fall off. Its possible but not likely. The bottom of the tree still has good wood in it. The top is rot, youll see that when it hits the ground. The real danger is the top breaking out, that happens when the tree moves fast. If youre pushing the tree with the tractor bucket, whoever is cutting is standing under the bucket. When its time to push the tree over, the cutter walks away first. Then the tractor eases the tree over.
