Easiest flight/drive to Ski area is Park City. Easy flights to SLC and 1 hour drive. Easy skiing for kids. Availibility this late may be a problem. Go at a slightly different time( we always skied week br more Presidents Day) and call it a Christmas present.

Our church kids went to some place in North Carolina. They have snow tubing lanes. They loved it. I’ll see if I can figure out where.

Lemon helps you stay awake. Valid points on here for sure, driving eats time. Flying the first flights out helps too. Packing an ice chest with sandwich food, a bumper dumper with a slot cut through the back of a Wakeman Outdoors pop-up potty tent saves enormous time cross country. Leaving very early saves time in the long run too. https://bumperdumper.com/

There’s a few ski resorts in NC, but they make their own snow for a good part of the season. It’s hit or miss as to if there will be snow on the ground outside of the ski resorts that time of year. Montana, Wyoming, Colorado or Utah would be my choice if I was looking for real snow. And yeah, it’s going to suck to fly but that’s the only way you’ll be guaranteed snow.

Look at Snowshoe WV. Best slopes on the east side of the US. Was just about to post this. I have a co-worker who lives in Snowshoe and he is always texting pics of he and the family skiing. I'm sure there are nice Air BNB's you can rent. I mapped it one time and it's about 9hrs from central Al.

Fly to Denver, rent a car and drive to Steamboat Springs or Fly to Bozeman MT, rent a car and drive to Big Sky. Wife and kids will love either one and there will be plenty for you to enjoy, especially the wildlife.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Wife and kids will love either one and there will be plenty for you to enjoy, especially the wildlife. It's a 3 hour(sometimes snowy) drive from Denver to Steamboat. Lots of flights right into Hayden/Steamboat. Great area. Bozeman to Big Sky is an easy and scenic drive. If there is enough snow; you can take a winter trip into Yelllowstone from there, as well.

Non-stop, round trip, from Atlanta to Denver on Southwest Airlines is only 258 dollars each, if you book it now... You can also save a dollar and book the same Non stop, round trip flight with Delta A/L for 257 dollars each...Better book soon while the prices are still fairly cheap, 3 1/2 hr flight time compared to 19 hr drive time would be a no-brainer for me...
Did you know that Beer Nutz are over a Dollar...and Deer Nutz are under a Buck...

Pretty sure I saw where Birmingham had a direct flight to Denver too. I had looked earlier in the year.
