If it’s on the up and up that’s a great deal

The 6.4 or 6.0 motor would be the drawback. But some of them were really good motors, others not so much

We sold our old brush truck through govdeals. It was roughly same year with the same miles. 6.0 4x4 extended cab work truck. It brought $25,000

03.5-07 are 6.0 the 03 and 04 are the most problematic of the 6 liters..but they are all prone to a buncha problems..high pressure oil pumps…head bolts stretch..to name a couple theres more. Thats the reason for everyone always askin if ithey have been “bulletproofed”. In my opinion…thats too much money for that truck if its never had any work done. 60k miles is just enough miles for a pawpaw truck to just begin to start showing serious symptoms. It was more rare for those trucks to NOT fail within the firs 80-100k miles…most always do…the 03 and 04 trucks rarely made it past 75k miles without the heads lifting maybe longer if it got pawpawed and never towed much. There are still some folks out there who try to pass these trucks off to the uninformed..but they have such a reputation now that rarely happens and even nice low mileage trucks dont sell for a whole lot. They can be made very reliable if you takem to someone who knows the engine inside and out..otherwise…you cant get rid of them if you try to sellem. The 6.4 powerstroke will make mind boggling power but there is no hope for them and more shops are refusing to work on them..word on the screet anyhow

I agree , the 20 yo, 3+ owners and only 60k miles combo made me say hmmmm.

Unfortunately the only 6.0 powerstroke unicorn is a nice lookin truck thats cheap…caus…they has been so much garbage ragged on these trucks over the last 15-20 years that almost all of them have had some type of work done to them..an its on you and your poket book to find out if a reputable mechanic did the work and has good records and receipts…or…16yo bill…an his 18yo buddy ted aint tore it down in the yard an been for gettin to put the tarp over the motor when it rains….they are good trucks…beautiful trucks..and the 05-07 have the updated suspension and ride very well…but…best to buy as cheap as possible…and go ahead and come to terms that..uour bezt case scenario is head studs, gaskets, egr delete and an upgraded oil cooling system…maybe injectors….worst case…whlle new engine…but…heres the deal i would wanna be all in..bombproofed by someone i trust for $15-18k…not 21k for a realy nice lookin low mileage truck they tryin to get book on…then turn around an have to put a buncha money in it…you could potentially be $30k+ deep if you aint careful on that thing…an for that you coulda got a 16 or newer 6.7 an have an infinitely better truck all the way around..🤷🏻

If it's legit , it would qualify .

I know a feller has a 2006 ( pre def) Chevy 2500 Duramax , 4X4 loaded with every option , Crew cab , short bed , black without a scratch, only 60K ish on it . It's a garage kept, one owner. I've tried to buy it , he just laughs at me.

I don't know of a cleaner , nicer 18 yo truck anywhere, he knows what he has and don't need the $, he's got plenty already.

Carbonclimber1, i have heard of some good 6.0s and 6.4s. Not many though. And it seems like the good ones are generally not used for pulling much. Ive heard alot of bad stories about them, ALOT. I would be too paranoid to buy one. I know where a f350 service truck is with around 400k on it. Customer of mine has it. Not bullet proofed. Its been a good truck for him for several years. He tried to sell it to me pretty cheap a couple years ago. I was afraid of it. I see him once or twice a week driving it. It does happen but its rare. I dont have that kind of luck.

No, you are absolutely right..there are for whatever reason..some of those trucks that never develop a problem…theys lb7 duramaxs still with factory injectors…its the stigma..and it scares folks including me because it coats so very much to fixem…i have a really bad problem…some folks really like to read books….i really like to read instruction manuals, schematics, maps, and engine forums….i have been obsessed with the diesel engine since i my cousin bought a 7.3 home from the dealer….i read about them…and i read about everybodys compiled goods and bads…..ustah be like that with boat motors…i just enjoy it…that really is a beautiful truck

I looked at diesel trucks for quite a while because i haul equipment or loads of tree debris about everywhere i go. I came to the conclusion im just too cheap to pay for the repairs on a diesel truck. And theyre coming. Even the 7.3s break down or have to be maintained. Im just too cheap to pay for it. I could buy a good used 6.0 or 5.8 gas motor installed for 1/3 what it would cost to repair a duramax. Ive found a sweet spot for my business and a diesel just dont fit in it.

I’ve been down that 6.0 road & will not ever take that route again. Started with a brand new 2004 with major problems at less than 10,000 miles. I’ll stick with 7.3’s and tow whatever I want.
Carbon Climber 1 nailed the 6.0’s who were made by International. There should have been a massive recall on the early 6.0’s
That’s a great looking truck but the numbers don’t add up. Even with paper work a mile long, I’d still stay away from that one.

I don’t have any personal experience with the 6.0, but I studied the big 3 Deisel engines for months on end before I bought one. During my months of reading and researching, I didn’t see one single thing good about the 6.0. Everything Carbon said about that truck was the same info I learned while reading up on the Deisel engines.
