All my life (65 years) I’ve heard the NCAA whine about bringing parity to college football. Because of NIL and transfer portal they inadvertently stumbled into total parity. Look at the landscape of college football. There is really no dominant team. Maybe Oregon but we’ll see how far they go in the playoffs. Georgia seemed poised to be the air apparent to Alabamas dynasty but they’ve shown vulnerability. Texas seemed to have the makings but lost to Georgia that lost to Alabama. Ohio State lost to a Michigan team that barely had a winning record. I picked Ole Miss to win the SEC and they faltered. So when all the Alabama fans complain about Alabama’s season, take heart in Deboar won more games in his first year than either Bryant or Saban. Everything in college football has changed so much in the last 3 years. Hence the reason Saban moved on. BTW, for that group of bama fans that talk about Saban coming back, that’s a pipe dream. He knows how screwed up college football is and his brand a coaching doesn’t fit the current landscape. Basically, college football has turned into one big chit sandwich that we all have to take a bite…….

Kirby Smart had a better team loaded with his players, his scheme, and he owns the locker room too. DeBoer beat him. Except for an 8 OT victory against the Vandy of Atlanta (GA Tech), they'd have the same record with Alabama holding the head to head.

Saban had to clean out the locker room to get rid of the DJ Hall followers so it could be Saban's way. DeBoer will have to do the same thing.

Also, the OC is a 3rd choice at best. Something Saban struggled with also. He has to get that fixed and get the locker room filled with his guys.

DeBoer has not been great as an in game coach. I believe he relies too heavily on the OC who has been outmatched in a few games this year. The DC has done a faster job of righting the ship and DeBoer has been hands off there also.

This year is not the measure of DeBoer. Next year and the years that follow will be the tale of the tape on DeBoer. I'm pulling for him.

That is not exactly true. Yes he inherited a great roster. But when Bond and Downs left, along with the other 20 plus transfer out, that brought what he inherited down to average at best. Don’t forget he was able to hold on to a top 5 class and continues an excellent class this year. My point is for him to be able to win nine games in his first year after following the undisputed GOAT is phenomenal. Any Alabama fan that is complaining about Deboar has totally unrealistic expectations. I would take him over Freeze 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

And they was still jekyll & hyde at times last year.

Average at best? You think the average team has as many 4 and 5 star players on their roster as this Alabama team?

Oh hey Teague - u can’t group debower with Bear or Saban yet. Heck - thats one incredible stretch!! He inherited one of the bettr rosters and a team that made it to the semi finals last year. This guy may be the best ever but i would pump the breaks before those comparisons. Heck - harsin had a brilliant record before AU. And Bama did not look that good last night - 4 freakin turnovers. And thats after an au call out or slap in face!! I exoected much bettr and grateful i did not see it!! Any other sec team other than state or au would hav kicked your butt last night. Not being mean or hating - i would give debower D plus grade first year. Most of the wait 4 years is for a roster build - this guy had a top 3 roster
