Wife and I have bought another house that is not going to have a dedicated trophy room where I can space animals.
So, I'm putting a lot of mounted stuff on the walls in an extra bedroom until we figure where we're going to retire.

What has worked best for standard deer shoulder mounts when studs are not present? 75-100 lb sheetrock inserts w/screws?

Thanks for any input.

I should've stated better.........NOT going to be able to hit a stud every time. Too many mounts.

I bought screws at Home Depot that were rated for 115#. No trouble so far.

I used the heavy duty drywall anchors that screw in and have done fine. I started trying to just use an angled nail or screw but they were pulling down into the sheetrock too much.

These are what I use, some of the larger ones are rated for 50-60 lbs. or more, never had a problem with them.....

This is what I do as well, BUT I use the metal version from Home Depot.

I got those hooks from walmart - pierce the sheet rock and leave hook exposed - its a curved hook with a sharp end - all my mounts on those

But the screw thing they mention rated for lot more

The mount is mostly foam it don’t weigh much at all. Just use a Sheetrock screw and let her ride. That’s what I do with deer and turkeys and I’ve never had an issue.

That’s what I’ve used too and works great. Just make sure there not a stud already there before you try screwing them in.
