I've had a Stag Arms Hunter in 6.8 SPC II for probably 10 years (id really have to look might be longer) but I like it, only wish she was a threaded barrel since i have toys now. But i ain't gonna ruin her by getting her threaded, just gonna leave her be 🙂
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Federal fusion shoots best in mine. Mine too. I killed several deer and quite a few hogs with mine. Great shooting rifle.

My go to deer rifle. The setup I have really likes the hornady 120 sst’s. My absolute worst groupings were with the Remington 115 grain

I’ve been running the SPC for over 10 years. Deer, hogs, coyotes…..mostly 110gr Accubonds and 90gr Gold Dots (XM68, commercial ‘Fusion’). I’ve had Grendels and blackouts, and the 6.8 has always been a faster killer at hunting ranges than both, and almost always gave me exits, which the Grendel and 300 struggled to do. IF there were better bullets in the Grendel at the time, it may have been a different story, but 6.8 Spec II will always allow higher pressure than the Grendel, have stronger bolts in an AR than the Grendel, and do better in shorter barrels than the Grendel. Bolt gun? You can further maximize either and do more and there’s less difference. Mags feed better, too.

Hornady is now making a 90 grain CX specifically for the Grendel. Sierra is also making a TGK designed for Grendel velocities as well but it's been hard to find. I believe either will work but see the Grendel getting better industry support.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I believe either will work but see the Grendel getting better industry support. The CX bullets seem nice, until you look at the load data….which is pretty anemic. Not sure if that’s a function of Hornady being overly conservative or the bullet design raising pressures? If you can find 100 or 110gr accubonds, 90gr Gold Dots (Fusions), 95gr TTSX, or 120gr SSTs…..you’re in business. Those in that order are my favorites in 6.8. I don’t see as many exits with the SST in 6.8 or 6.5. The Accubonds, TTSX, and Fusions all exit well. The TTSX don’t expand as easily as the others.
