For as long as I can remember a grandmother in my family has cooked New Year’s Day dinner. Well through the years it dwindled down. When I started courting my wife her grandmother cooked it as well.. as the years passed by bad health and death handed that role to my wife.. and she’s darn good at it.
Peas/jowl cornbread greens taters pork chops corn beef
I’ve had this very meal for as long as I could remember and today’s I believe for some reason was the best! I’m on round two for supper.

Yall have any traditional food every year?

Y’all heard of Cincinnati chicken or at least what my grandmother called it. . It’s very good not the healthiest but good my grandmother from Brantley could cook anything and it was good. We always ask for Cincinnati chicken. What do you think it is?

Salt pork rinsed, drug through some flour with enough pepper to choke a goat, then fried in a little oil.

I cook every year for New Years. Cabbage, black eyed peas, corn bread and meat balls.

Fried Salted pork. (Pork belly). It’s like thick bacon but salty. Very good but not good for blood pressure I’m sure.
