Has anyone on here ever used a drone to check for pine beetles? I'm probably gonna try it as soon as the wind backs off. I've had both knees replaced in the last 18 months and am still a little hesitant of doing a lot of wood walking. Also, I'm still trying to find someone to come to north Coosa county and do some burning. Suggestions?

I had the forester that helps manage my property do a drone check for pine beetles this summer. Noticed I had a bunch of 40+ year old pines that were dead or dying across the property but no concentration that would indicate a beetle infestation. Drought been bad the past 4 out of 5 late summers to early fall. I believe the Alabama Forest Commission does pine beetle flights as do foresters that handle lots of acreage.

Check out the Alabama Insect and Disease Map to see if there are any documented cases close to your property:

I've never used mine to check for pine beetles, but dead trees stand out like a sore thumb.

The link overland said, and the other better than drone trick you can sometimes get lucky with is your local FSA and NRCS office. They both check and do flights on a mystery schedule, but call them and ask about it. They may be able to fly your place for free and treat it for free. You never know, but there is always a bug program.
If your property is in-around or near National Forest property, call them up and ask the same thing you would to NRCS-FSA.
When I did bug surveys on Bankhead and Ocmulgee, we did a few private properties that were next to the bug spots on the forest property as part of the regular work. I found a really important archaeological site that crossed private and forest property on one of those.

We use a drone to check for beetles regularly. Great way to see where they are at and how big the patches are. You can go to this link to look for burn vendors in your area. If we weren't booked up we would see if we could fit it in. We do a lot of burning in your area.
