Starting a new thread for the attention it will hopefully get.

I’ve always been a big believer on what AlDeer has to say (on certain things), and enough of you have indicated that Predator generators are the way to go. So I’m going to give them a try. That said, I’d like to know which model(s) you recommend.

The one thing I know for certain I’m getting is one with a battery start…. I’m tired of pulling crank cords. What are your thoughts and recommendations? Any one in particular you like, or that I should avoid at all cost?

Thanks.

What are you planning to do with it? Home back-up? will you be moving it often? RV Use?

Battery start generator? How big do you need? I’ve got a small one and the pull isn’t bad. Usually starts on the first pull.

It be's that way sometimes.

The electric start is great , but you need to crank it often and keep the battery charged . I have a big Generac with both electric and pull start . I've cranked it more times by the pull rope, usually one pull btw, than with the electric . If it sets a few months battery is down. I need to fire it up and let her run a while , with this blizzard bearing down on us.

Limited home backup. I have a six circuit backup transfer switch at the house and will be running two refrigerators, two low-amp control circuits (to control on-demand hot water heater and gas fireplace electric ignition), microwave (the only big amp pull), and two other low-amp 120 volt circuits within the house.

I would not go smaller then the 5,000 watt always pick the larger of the 2 your considering . There great for the money you will not be disappointed like said before run it with a load every so often doesn’t matter what brand you go with it needs to run.

I had the non-inverter 8750 electric start for 4-5 years now with no issue. Just upgraded it to the inverter 8750 and so far no issues. Love these generators.

I'll sell the non-inverter 8750 electric start for a good deal if anyone is interested.

I have a Generac and a Honda. The Generac is for the house and the other for the bakery. The house is hard wired, just roll it out and hook it up to an outside receptacle. The other small enough to carry around. I run both every few weeks. You not living too far from me up here now can mean when the power is out it can last a few days. Its happened a few times. They are nice to have. Between a generator and a wood burning stove not a problem at all.

And that’s exactly why I’m buying one. Plus my old one won’t crank. 😡

I have the 5000 you list. I bought it for my guys to use when we start up new projects before we have the temporary power set. Have had no issues out of it to date. I think I've had it about 2 years now.

Yea I'd have to think really hard before I bought one that didn't run an LP gas. Never have to worry about gasoline going bad. That 13kw predator is tri fuel. Looks like one is available in Hartselle. Hmm may make a purchase this afternoon. It has remote start too.

Well, this thread got me. Loaded up the wife and we went and got the 5000. I happened to look at my email before we left, to see harbor freight had sent me 25% off 1 single item this morning. I'll take that.

I have a similar setup and run it on the Honda eu3000i. Don’t run the microwave but rather the wife’s hair dryer 🤣. It’s the important things. When she’s doing that, I switch the fridge circuits off as the hair dryer uses almost all of the available power from it. Get a 5000 at least. Next one I get will have 240 and I’ll be adding more circuits in.

Westinghouse 12,500 tri-fuel here. Running natural gas as soon as I get that set up.
Lots of Predators running jobsites and they seem strong. Go bigger is always a good idea.

That's the 5000 watt I have. It's gas and propane and I have 2 100lb tanks that are full just in case I run out of gas and can't get any for a few days

Well, I’m the proud new owner of a PREDATOR 5000 Watt Dual-Fuel SUPER QUIET Inverter Generator with Remote Start and CO SECURE Technology.

Thanks for all the input related to these things. Hopefully I won’t need it this weekend, but if I do I’ll be ready.
