Oddest thing I saw at Publix parking lot was a woman holding a sign asking for rent money while her children were next to her playing the violin and bass. Classical music to beg by.

She couldnāt speak English, well dressed and groomed but had a note and was able to say Please ? Doesnāt pass the smell test I wouldnāt characterize it as well dressed and groomedā¦..More like a little ātarted upā Yeah, I wouldnt worry too much about the courage she must have had to have to even ask a complete stranger for a little help...Who's to say she hadn't been there for hours and hours waiting on just the right person that she could feel safe even asking for such a mercy.....Yeah you prolly done the right thing shooing her off like a fly cause it sure sounds like a setup..  If she really was a test from above, I think you may have failed it...

Over the years Iāve gotten so used to the olāboy at the gas station in Union Springs or Tuskegee coming up to me wanting me to let him hold a dollar that Iāve kind of grown numb to it and just immediately shew it awayā¦ā¦
Well, a minute ago I was in Publix and this young foreign girl comes up behind me in line and hands me a note that says something about here having three brothers and sisters and needing helpā¦..When I say foreign it struck me as like Russian foreign or somethingā¦..It really caught me off guard and I didnāt even read it all before having the same reaction I always doā¦.āNo thanksāā¦ā¦.When I said that she said āPleeease!!!āā¦. and had a genuine desperation in her voice and eyesā¦.
I thought about it more after I left and I feel like I might have been being tested and failed that one for someone who was legitimately in a desperate situationā¦..I donāt know if this girl was being human trafficked or what but I think she was really truly in a bad place of some kindā¦..Either that or she had a WAY better act than olā boy at the gas station in Union Springsā¦ā¦It was really odd and out placeā¦..She was a pretty girl probably in her early twenties that was dolled up with a good bit of foundation and lipstickā¦.Her note was very well written in English by someone with good hand writing.

Was she a blonde? Probably the same one that scammed me. It was nearly 3 years ago and she came up to me at Publix and said she needed food and money. Claimed she needed to get a hotel room, something about being stranded and nowhere to go. I told her that I had a spare bedroom. I thought she was only staying for 1 night. She stayed 4 days! Yep, I saw this too here in Bham at the Patchwork Farms Publix a few years ago. I smelled a rat and just sat in my truck a few minutes watching and observing things. They were kinda Taliban looking folks. Lo and behold after a few serenades by her she takes a break and her sorry arsed husband is sitting at the picnic tables munching on some lunch watching over them and collecting the money she took in. They always use the young children that are by their side to pull on our heart stings. It would not surprise me one bit if the music she was supposedly playing with her violin was prerecorded coming out of her bluetooth speaker next to her.

I usually get hit up at the gas stations. I've gotten to where I just help when I can.
I had a lady a couple of years ago with a car full of kids ask me for some gas money. She was driving a suburban and I told her to get as much gas as she felt she needed. I figured she would fill it up and that would've been OK. She put $20 in it.......
