had this replaced at the dealership 3 years ago. They replaced with same OEM part.
Leak came back, same oem part cracked.
Dealer wants 1700$ to replace same OEM part again as the part they replaced with is 12mo out of warranty
Need advice on a good mechanic south of Birmingham
TIA

Have you looked online to see if there is an aftermarket replacement designed specifically as a "fix" for what sounds like is probably a common issue?

Jeeps come with a very helpful diagnostic tool. It's located in the front grill. That emblem where it's says J.E.E.P. That means it's broken down.

It's talked about dang near every day on jk facebook groups. Get the dorman aluminum one but don't use their gaskets or sensors, get mopar gaskets and sensors. I've got 78000 on my 2014 stock housing but it could go at any day.

Had a mechanic put an aluminum aftermarket in mine last year and it’s still holding up. I think he did that, had to replace the battery and flush the oil 3 times and it was about $700 iirc. He’s retired and only does cash jobs. Lives in Coker.

Jk 3.6l owner here. I bought the Dorman all aluminum and used MOPAR gaskets. It's a pain in the butt, but completely do-able to do this yourself. Basically, schedule a full day, take your time and get it done.
Really helps if you've got a stand that'll let you lay over the top of the engine, but a foam yoga mat will do in a pinch.
Plenty of Youtube videos out there showing how to do it.
Also, do all the ignition while you're in there (plugs, boots, coils, etc), as it's all under that intake as well.

Buy the all aluminum Dorman oil cooler and change it yourself. I did mine and Woodsman42's, pretty simple task.

A few older models where bulletproof as far a engine/transmission goes. I had one not long ago I got rid of after reading all the possible issues, well add that thing beat me up offroading. Sharp rides and can take on some mud if they don't break.
