I usually hear more Nail guns than Hammers š I was thinking the same thing. My MIL lives in a newly developing neighborhood and those things are popping all day.

I know a number of American contractors who can't find apprentices to work when the illegals were doing the brunt of the work. It's gonna be interesting to watch.
They can figure it out with LEGAL migrant labor like tons of other businesses. That illegal part just seems to be a sticking point for a lot of Americans. It does and I completely understand it. But I also don't understand that process either. I assume it's a work visa thing. As long at they're authorized to be here and pay taxes, I don't really care.

Oh, no. Contractors will have to pay employees a fair wage again. What's a "fair" wage, which is a BS term used by democratic politicians. The Hispanic, hourly employees we have at our company are doing very well. Thatās a fact. Most of the Hispanic guys I know are making $16-20 a hr and are worth it. Now if we are talking about Americans making the same well most of them are worth $8-10 a hr. Iām all for making sure they arenāt dangerous, are paying taxes but Iād take most messicans 1-5 over democraps.

Save that nonsense for someone who didn't work construction before it was overrun with illegals. Or who has had trouble finding a contractor who employs something more than a warm body with a language barrier. They're employed because they're paid less. The job costs the same to the customer. The difference is someone who cares more for their profit than their country.

I ask because I feel like I have seen folks on here complaining about not being able to find folks to work. You might connect with someone that could use you or offer you better than whatever you have going on currently.

Some more and some less but that's what it takes to hire these 'cheap' workers you're talking about.

No telling how much new construction work weāve turned away the past two years. We Finally got tired of turning away money and started taking it as we wanted it. Have Probably done a dozen houses in the past 2 months. Seems to still be building strong in our area, mostly homeowners and small general contractors that build a handful of houses here and there every few months.
As far as commercial construction, we turn away bidding on large projects multiple times a day every single day. Iād probably just hire full time project managers before I took on those headaches.

Most skilled laborers in construction or landscaping are making minimum $200-250/ day. It's not the cheap labor and these guys appreciate and want to work. They're not out there clock riding and trying to look busy, they're getting after it. You can't pay good help enough and the opposite is true of sorry help- whatever you pay them is too much.

Iām co-owner of a construction company. Our cheapest labor is $17.00/hour. We have 0 Caucasian workers, they are all on meth a fentanyl.
Hispanic workers started out here in Alabama as ācheap laborā. Now they dominate the workforce in construction AND they pretty much name their price. The BIG difference in Hispanic labor vs āothersā is that these āMessicansā take pride in their work. Ourās are skilled laborers that Iād put up against anybodyās work.

Honest question here, but are they legal immigrants? Are they mostly in masonry and carpentry? Iāve yet to see Hispanic crews around here doing electrical, plumbing, HVAC. Although, if I had a good legal Hispanic crew that I could hire for our construction projects, I may not be against it. They are hardworking people most of the time.

If you think they aren't doing all the trades, you're not looking hard enough. I had a new construction this week that wasn't ready because there were zero crews in the entire 200 home development. Look at the electrical panel labels. "Kitchin Plogs". "Dinning Room Plogs." etc.. They do it all from top to bottom.

Iāve tried my best to stay out of the new construction world as much as possible though, So it may be a lack of me being around that game. Too cut throat, super low margins most of the time, and most builders/contractors are horrible at planning and scheduling all of the work that needs to be done- So weāve tended to avoid it and cherry pick it when do it.

I've not seen any Mexican crews doing HVAC, wiring and plumbing around Scottsboro either. Now framing, roofing and masonry , they about have that sewn up.

I don't do this work but I see some home inspector videos mostly out of Texas. These are new construction $500K houses and they look halfassed built and finished.
