Got to love it, best rut activity this morning since the pre snow early cold snap. What's interesting I saw two yearlings that still had the last few spots remaining on their backs. I sure wish FWC and the land owners would analyze the differences in rut activity within the DMUs. As the heard continues to decline in weight and antler development the timber companies continue to turn leases into pine plantations with no consideration to browse. One timber company is actually making clubs reduce their plots by ten percent.

Season was weird and snow messed things up in my area. Rut goes well into February in some areas which is why season ends 2/23. Glad they changed antlerless rules as DMU D2 has way too many deer.

Been weird this year where I'm at too. Never really saw any rut activity at any of the 3 properties I hunt. It was also strange to see some bucks that were so run down their hip bones were sticking out while other bucks were still just as fat as they were when the season started.
