Well when the NTSB workers get the axe from DOGE I know where they can find the replacements that are already crash experts

Reportedly the strong crosswinds played into the hard landing.

A guy I know that flew the U2 and other much bigger jets says crosswinds got it as he was cutting power back and it dropped.

No pilot info released so far.

Are they giving time to scrub social media before releasing the names like they did in the DC crash?

Have you tried Google?

I talked to a pilot friend of mine. He said the pilot was descending at twice the rate he should have. He also said conditions were not favorable but pilot error was to blame.

I didn’t fly U2s but the plane never flared. It flew right into the runway. Could be a few reasons for that. To your friend’s opinion, “throttle for distance, pitch for speed” is a basic piloting technique on final approach and landing phases. The pitch never changed. He literally flew it into the ground, CFIT by definition (controlled flight into terrain).

Rt side MLG failure if they landed on the runway and not prematurely in the dirt.
